Legates,

Three city-states are fighting your war, countless battles have been waged, and the savages still have more than a thousand times our number tucked safely behind nigh-impenetrable walls.

If you care for the lives of the people who are fighting your war, who are dying on the frontlines for you— if you truly care for the weeping widows and miserable orphans then you'll do anything you have to do to save just one more life.

Buy out Il-Modo's help. They have cannons, they have fighting-men. Let them sort their own logistics of getting to the Scald themselves. Don't let your pride make us all die like dogs in the sands. Use your power and your influence to open negotiations. I understand that Il-Modo mocked this city at Kardeslar, but nearly every day I have to endure being beaten black-and-blue by my superiors, but I take it on the chin and endure, so why can't this city take a hit to its pride and bear with it if lives are at stake?

The treasury's overflowing, you say, so you can afford to pay the Grand Duke and his men what they want in exchange for their power. Power that beat even the great Baz'eel in the War of the Pearls. You say they won't accept any price, but have you asked them since Kardeslar? Did you really offer them a proper deal? I doubt it. You say it's too late for them to arrive, but will you say that to the faces of the families of those who've died in these bloodbaths? Even one cannon can end up saving hundreds of lives.

But what do you care? I'm just another piece of meat you'll throw to the hordes like a piece of trash. Your reputation's worth more than my, or anyone elses' life for that matter.

You have no excuse to not even try.

Signed,
Another Nameless Bag of Meat
