Marcellus,

You requested the College look into the Scald. Well, from what I learned from Bashir, he said there was a connection to Vahd I and something called the Immolation. I looked into the life of Vahd I in the College, but this is where things got very odd.
I managed to find one reference in the History section and one in Religion.

The first, from Lives of the Maribid, 5th Ed. Vol 2:
" He who ended the Destitute Years, Who in the Coup of the Sun did bring the Fire of Immolation down on a dozen Pretenders! At whose feet did Il Modo, Kulkun and Yataxan prostrate themselves. Who garlanded the Summer Palace with many golden minarets (1). Who did proclaim the holy Practice of Immolation and uphold the faith in the Temples."
(1) Could this be The Shade?

From the Exhaltation of Vahd I:
"To rise like the sun-god Izdu over all humankind"
This is doubly odd. One, the Magi is a god of Stars, not the baleful glare of Pra'raj. Two, it speaks of humankind not of the ashfolk. You can buy your own copy at the Temple of B'aara, it is an apparently orthodox text with a very odd way of referring to Leverhand.

I can find no further reference to the Coup of the Sun, but the reference to the sun in BOTH texts concerning Vahd I seems no coincidence. We should speak further.

Stars guide your hunt,
Robert.
