Welcome, common reader.

I write for you now, a guide befitting the intellectual pursuits of my illustrious people, known as the Ashfolk. In this erudite tome, we shall expound upon the sophisticated legal principles that guide our obligate pacifist society, contrasting it with the perceived barbarism of the less refined races, particularly those lumbering humans.

Table of Contents:

Chapter One: "The Gifted Lawgivers"

In this opening chapter, we delve into the sublime art of diplomacy and statecraft that defines our Ashfolk culture. Our people, being masters of empire building, statecraft and peace - shall illuminate the simple minds of the common savage with tales of intricate negotiations, alliances forged through the exchange of exquisite gifts, and the subtle dance of political finesse.

Chapter Two: "Pacifism as a Noble Art"

Here, we extol the virtues of our obligate pacifism, elevating it to the status of a noble art form. While the common savage may revel in brute force and war, we, the Ashfolk, demonstrate the true strength lies in restraint, diplomacy, and the strategic use of well-timed gifts to sway the tides of conflict and retain the purity of our souls. In this way, we do not tarnish the great gift of life, granted to us by the Mother B'aara.

Chapter Three: "The Philanthropic Judiciary"

This chapter delves into our uniquely benevolent legal system, which emphasizes rehabilitation and restitution over punitive measures. While the common savage might resort to crude punishment, we, in our infinite wisdom, showcase the efficacy of a judicial system grounded in empathy, understanding, and the exchange of thoughtful offerings.

Chapter Four: "The Currency of Influence"

Ah, the concept of currency—where the common savage fumbles in the dark with mere coins, we, the Ashfolk, wield the true currency of influence. Our economy revolves around the exchange of favors, gifts, and bribes, crafting a web of interconnected relationships that propels our society to greater heights.  Each gift granted is a showing of respect, the value of which shows how much one respect another and how much they are invested in a matter on which they wish to sway an opinion.  Not all gifts are gold. Secrets, favors, and other objects are often traded in a system of barter that a simple savage could not muster, taken as they are with their swords and their blurring vials.

Epilogue: "Enlightenment Amidst the Brutes"

In this final section, we shall condescendingly address the potential for the common savage to ascend from their primitive ways. By absorbing the wisdom contained within our tome, they may, perhaps, inch closer to the lofty heights of Ashfolk enlightenment. Alas, true civilization is an arduous climb, and they would do well to heed our impeccable guidance.
