Erudiche

Deputy Chief Scribe,

It seems our schedules will make getting things done somewhat difficult during some days of the week. I encourage you to give any papers you need signed to your associates to bring to me during my work hours if you will not be available for them tomorrow, and communicate any matters you might via letter. In particular, I would like to have the Prohibition of Slavery and Arms-Bearing laws dealt with. A note, as well: Kha'esh does not practice slavery, the Chief Scribe confirms. Thus adding the free soil clause (i.e., that any slave who enters our soil is freed) would do us no harm with them.

I have instructed Marcellus to restore funds to your treasury.

YOURS,
DOMHNALL JUDICAEL GUIVARCH
LEGATE OF THE ASSEMBLY
FIRST SEAT
Redemption! Redemption!

Legate Guivarch

First, let me congratulate you on taking the First Seat, I am sure your administration shall be enlightening to you. I will still seek you in person when time permits but I am forced to keep odd hours to provide my services to the various people of the well who for some reason work under the gaze of Pra'raj while also balancing my own duties to the Pyramid and to my sleep, so other scribes may on occasion carry documents to you on my behalf.

The Arms Bearing adjustment is written up and ready for you, and the Prohibition of Slavery can be dealt with. I will note however that Kha'esh's lack of official slavery is something of a matter of semantics. While of course I cannot stop you adding the free soil clause, I fear you will see many legally speaking "non-slaves" dragged back into entirely unfavourable circumstances as it shall be argued such does not apply to them.

This aside, your swift action to restore funds to your Scribes is noted and appreciated, and I hope we have the opportunity to sit down for a proper talk when time permits.

Regards
Aaisha al-Samar
Depuity Chief Scribe of the Sublime Garden
Chief Clerk of the Office of the Sublime Bank
Magistrate of the Second Seat.
