Chairs in the Kingsman

In more than one situation I sit down at one of the four tables inside the Kingsman with four chairs surrounding them and start a whispered conversation (or have somebody else start one) then realize that the chairs are not in within whispering distance.

I'd like to suggest that the chairs within the Kingsman are moved closer to the table/each other so that they are within whispering distance. This, I think, would also create the added bonus of giving more "walking space" inside the Kingsman. It is a bit cramped in there with those four tables and sixteen chairs.

imo, people use whisper too much already.  The point of having the secret conversations is so that people can spy on you and oppose you!  Talk loud, and take all comers!

my two cents,

Spying on people should involve more than standing somewhere in the same room as the dude and waiting for him to talk about his secret plans in public.

Most of the time if the player's not a douchebag and you roll a decent listen check around them whispering, they will tell you what the gist of the conversation is about.  When you whisper you should also emote loudly [whispers to so & so] because in reality it would be pretty obvious that two people are whispering back & forth.  If you want to whisper nonchalantly then ask for a spot check to see you do it, then a  listen check to hear what you said.  I wish there were something more mechanical that automatically did it, but for now this work reasonably well.

Or a decent enough stealth score to eavesdrop without being spotted.

If they are within whisper range they can hear the conversation. Otherwise, they should try harder. There is no need for any checks at all, and if the player doesn't ask for one, they are not a 'douche', they are doing exactly what they should. Rolls without DMs are meaningless.

See that's where I disagree, there can be mutual consent between players of DCs and rolls can be made. There's no point in badgering a DM if you need a roll, and there's no point in not rolling, thereby decreasing the dynamic of your RP and your character because there are no DMs present, but I think this thread has been completley derailed...

I wouldn't mind the chairs being closer personally but I don't think it's possible.  If it is, go for it.

Rolls are the way you can roleplay your character without everythig go to your convenience. I'd like to see more people use rolls to RP arround.

If you have a big ass bluff score, be a good liar, if you don't, then don't. Unless you want to take lying to the next level, and lie with a negative bluff score or some shit.

Anonymous Bosch

Nothing wrong with a good roll, although it can break immersion at times.
I've seen awesome liars with no bluff at all.
Being able to count on everybody RPing stats to their detriment just doesn't fit into my cheerfully cynical view of the world.

I would not. Thank you for expressing your opinion, but we are roleplaying on EFU not roll-playing on PnP.

On EFU, Dms request checks as we wish. For situations with no Dms involved, opposed checks do not apply. Players are expected to fairly roleplay their different skill investments. If you have a lot of bluff, then lie well - if you don't, then don't. Etc.

It is OK though for one player to respectfully request another to do a check, but it is not an opposed check, and is mostly just to get a sense of how persuasive/whatever the other person in terms of intangibles is so you can fine-tune your reaction.
