Quote from: TheTurboNerd;353277Name: Ezekial Hark
Age: 25
Race: Human
Sex: Male
Class: Paladin
Alignment: Lawful Good
Diety: Torm (Dead God)

Background: Born the son of a family of Coal Miners in the Dalelands, from a young age Ezekial was plagued by a peculiar psychological affliction - he heard voices. Unlike many though, these voices sang in a beautiful, musical language which he could not speak, but he could understand. They sang him to sleep, they told him when people were bad, they chastised him when he did immoral things. A model young boy, this affliction was none the less a quiet embarrassment for the down to earth family, kept hushed until they chanced to ask a travelling cleric of Selune to examine their son for mental defect.

What this cleric discovered was not that Ezekial was touched, but blessed - the 'singing voices' were speaking to him in what they were able to identify as celestial, and they seemed to be some form of an early manifestation of a Paladins gifts. The Harks were deeply religious - the families early patriarch, Great Grandfather Jedediah Hark had been a soldier long ago, and a devout follower of Torm even before the True Gods surge of popularity post Time of Troubles. The faith had been carried down the families lines, despite their now more mundane and humble nature, and a small shrine to their 'Knight Protector' was kept in the house.

The Hark's reached out to the nearest temple of Torm for help, and a priest was dispatched to speak to Ezekial at the age of 12. After a lengthy and private interview, it was confided to the family that Ezekial was perfectly healthy, though on his sixteenth birthday the priest would return and Ezekial would have to make a choice - one that might separate him from his family for forever.

Four years later, Ezekial left with the Cleric of Torm to begin his training to become a Paladin. He would see his family once more in person on his 20th birthday when he visited to celebrate his officiation as an Errant. He has not seen them since, and assumes they have all perished in the fall.

Concept Goals: Play a Paladin, except his god is deaaad. Get noticed for it, like a cleric for a dead power. Maybe find a new God for him, and live happily ever after until murdered.

Character Goals:

Cope with the death/silence of Torm and the loss of the voices :(
Be an exemplary paladin without powers
Fulfill the duties of a knight
Become a leading figure in the Watch
Become a Prefect?

This character mostly exists to try and promote a realistic lawful good philosophy in the face of the grim dark future. I've enjoyed roleplaying an articulate, philosophical warrior (with a slight depressive edge).

Epitath:

Quote from: Trout ManI wished more people played paladins like you do. You make them redeemable, interesting, three dimensional, relatable, human, and brave.

He doesn't hide behind his code and use it as an excuse to not think, he studied its merits, and determined that he wanted to follow it. There is thought behind his actions instead of arbitration, and for that I salute you, sir.

Keep up the good work, I am suitably impressed.

WeAllGonnaDie

This is the highest praise I think I can offer:  He was a true paladin.

VengefulSeraphim

Hark was a dope-ass character, can't wait to see your next. Also Renee says "..."

Ironside

Sick, well done Turbonerd.

The Marauder

He will be missed :(

Great work turbonerd.

goate

A flawed and believable human paladin.  Great PC.  Must have been hard to play.

Blessed Ecclesiarch

Good work, faithless scum.

Pentaxius

Great, believable character. We had a great ride together, and I deeply appreciated witnessing Hark's evolution.

SonOfGoddess

Man this was crazy and crushing, you should know, you were there!

It's still worth mentioning though: it was a blast, TurboNerd!

Blast9thewarrior

Welcome to the Remade in Darkness Club. Wish I had a chance to interact with Hark IG as Tolman, always seemed like we missed each other!

Abandoned-1

Hark - Errant Soldier, Defender of the Faith.
Currently playing: Quass al Quadra

MaimedGod

Great fun playing with him. He and Abala clearly disagreed on a lot and it was fun to watch the dynamic.
