Alchemy or Herbal Tomes

I'd like to be able to find books or notes, or have people come up to me with books and notes that they've found, that allude to the existence & properties of potent / rarely-made / useful items in alchemy and herbalism.

It'd give alchemists & herbalists something to experiment and strive towards rather than just repeatedly hit and missing through multiple different branches of alchemy and herbalism until they find something random that's worthwhile.

It'd also be a welcome change for myself personally, at the moment I'm finding a large variety of small trinkets such as numerous different potion recipes that can be brewed anyway, in alchemy that takes a lot of effort and third and fourth level spells to unlock.

If I knew that there was something 'there' in that branch of alchemy other than stuff that can be found or brewed already outside of it, I'd be a lot more inspired to keep at it.
