Hello!

With our new Relic Guardian system we could use some Relic suggestions for items. Items may be equippable or not. They are heavily scripted so only Relic Guardians who are attuned to them may be able to use/equip them so don't worry about that.

So if you'd like to help, I suppose the following things should be placed here:
 • Relic's name
 • Relic's item type
 • Relic's type - (fire, air, water, etc. - according to the list on the announcement thread). May have 2 types for a relic
 • Relic's description
Relics may be more connected to actual deities, or perhaps more to domains, or other forces out there.

If you also want to offer stats for the item, feel free to do so, but in a PM to me, and probably only after seeing a few of the existing relics to get a vague sense of their power level. My 2 best suggestions regarding the powers of the items:
 • Play on the item's type.
 • Play on the fact that an item may be strong with higher spell circle level, or having more powerful stats while sacrificing spell circles.
Thanks!

Cat-o-nine-tails.

Hatred or Evil type relic.

Relic Type: Whip

Descrition: With or without a divine presence pain exists. Some would even say moreso in dark times as the world grows harsher. However for the now silent faith of Lovitar it was in that pain and harshness true strength found.

- Negative: Unhealable bleeding effect. The basic idea being they continue to bleed from wielding the item, and though they can heal themselves from the damage they will continue to bleed so long as it is equipped.

- Positive: In return for the strain on the body 5/2DR and bonus to physical stats given, no circles above Circle 2 posisble.

Saturnalia

Mask of Gulthyn
Helmet
Dwarf, Protection
This ancient mask is masterfully hammered from greened bronze and silver, with deep ruby lenses in its eyes. When attuned to a worthy protector of dwarven people the ruby begins to glow like a flickering candle. These masks are said to have been crafted by the avatar of Gorm Gulthyn himself, and its glow is a spark of the god's divine essence selflessly sacrificed to strengthen his people. The Masks of Gulthyn have historically been passed through generations of the greatest defenders of the Dwarves, and the bodyguards of the Kings under the Mountain.

The Book of Wisdom is a unique artifact said to have been stolen from Oghma's library by the god Mask, yet in the resulting escape it was torn asunder and let fall into the Prime. Over centuries the sentient tome has sought to repair itself, and with every generation of adventurers that uncover a fragment the pages move ever closer to unity. Upon gathering all the parts the player that attempts to repair the book makes a d100 roll resulting in the completion of the relic and the possibility of madness, enlightenment, death, or other effects on the rune guardian.

A pure white page 1/20
Scroll
Universal

This indestructible pure white vellum page resists every stain, mark, and blemish. It seems to capture and hold any light it is exposed to, glowing softly in the dark.

Grants access to first circle spells

Angel skin binding
Book
Good, Spells

This half of a book binding is made from the supple silver skin of an angel, and is stitched together with delicate gold thread. Downy feathers run down its torn spine and it gives the holder a profound yet disturbing feeling of peace and tranquility.

Allows 2nd circle spells, grants paladin's detect evil ability. 25% negative vulnerability.

Demon skin binding
Book
Evil, Magic

This half of a book binding is made from the rough scaly hide of a demon, and is roughly stitched together with darksteel wire. A bloodshot grey eye is set in its torn spine and in the right light it seems to move with an ominous intelligence.

Allows 2nd circle spells, grants blackguard's detect good ability. 25% divine vulnerability.

Liber Prudentia
Book
Rune, Knowledge

Bound half in silver angelic skin and half in dark demonic hide, this book radiates a bipolar aura of tranquility and malevolence. The runes on its pure vellum pages are constantly in motion, shifting to reveal the answer to questions long forgotten. The book hungers to add to its vast knowledge and it viciously consumes the sanity of its reader. Even great scholars devolve into mad hermits who do nothing but pour over its endless pages.

Grants detect good and detect evil, allows the player to ask a question to the DMs at the cost of sanity.

The Foehammer
 • Weapon, War Domain
 • Fire crackles around the head of this war mace, violent and raging. Steam rises up from the many scratches lining its surface. Somewhere within this weapon is an intensity it can barely contain, perhaps even an intellect, and that passion infectiously fills anyone who comes nearâ€"potentially overwhelms them. Those who spend too much time around the Foehammer grow uncharacteristically aggressive or competitive. They begin to have visions of ancient battles, become entangled in daydreams of courageous triumphs over impossible odds. In time, it may become difficult to recognize what is real and what is just the Foehammer's "memories."

It is clear that this artifact will be difficult to carry, let alone wield.

Phoenix Rising

Goblet of Pure Flame
Fire relic
Goblet item

An extravagant brass goblet adorned with precious fire opals and elaborate carvings of great spires and noble efreet. Within the goblet is pure elemental flame in a liquid state, though as many time as it is poured the goblet seems to retain infinite connection to the fiery realm.

Grants the Fire turn undead. Completely disables ALL divine spells. Instead the goblet provides daily uses of various fire spells to replace the lost divine spells. Maybe unlimited combust or something to represent pouring it. The idea is that the Relic Guardian loses all their personal power and instead relies on the relic itself.

Something like this could be done with any relic really. Some kind of nexus of what the relics 'domain' represents which draws completely from all divine energy to manifest its own powers.

Phoenix Rising

Blooming ______
Plant Relic
It's that potted shrub item.

This plant struggles against the darkness in a desperate attempt at life. Holding it bestows a feeling of hope that even amidst apocalypse life finds a way. In time it might even grow to share a special attachment to the gardener that favors this plant.

One of potentially many low tier plant relics. Could be many different types of Blooming (plant), each with different themes, and whatever relic guardian takes care of them might see their specific type of plant grow over time and gain new abilities while feeding from the divine spells of the one holding it. Kind of like a base item that might grow into say a crown of flowers or cloak of tangling thorns or living treeshield after they've had time to grow and bond to the relic guardian that nurtures their growth. Or the guardian might try to grow these divine plant relics and then plant them in the ground once they have matured to create a holy garden of special plants that may or may not have unique properties, but can be destroyed by aggressors to harvest their base blooming form again.

Gown of Tears
 • Armor, Magic Domain
 • This old, threadbare maternity dress appears to have once belonged to a Mystran priestess. The fabric has lost most of its moody, mellow color, but blotches of deep blue remain to hint at its original tones. Some of the sapphires which once studded it are gone; others are chipped, broken fragments hanging limply in an incomplete pattern. Blood stains spatter a location with nauseating implications.

Throughout this tattered garment, however, there is a mute, feeble sentiment of despair. Some last cry of grief and defiance seems to have cursed the clothing. It actively resists being worn. Touching it tickles the ears with the bloodcurdlingly hateful, but distant screams of its original owner. But however much it rejects you, it pushes much more fanatically against the Weave around you. If you had the skill to reconcile with or conquer the spirit within this artifact, you could use it to powerfully insulate yourself from all forms of magic...

Of course, this would prevent you from calling upon spells of your own.

 • // Requires five levels of Relic Guardian to equip. Spells and domain powers are deactivated. This item cannot be used if it is not the Relic Guardian's chosen focus.
 • +25 Spell Resistance, -3 Universal Saves, 100% Divine Damage Vulnerability, -1 Charisma, Mordenkainen's Disjunction 1/day, Lesser Dispel 3/day, ascetic spell restrictions if feasible

Last Pure Drops of the Rimril

Item type: Stoppered Vial (not potion) OR Amulet (with a tiny bottle!)
Domains: Good, Water

This vial is said to contain the last drops of water from the River Rimril to be consecrated in Eldath's name, before the terrors of the Dread Empire came, and the new era of lightless days spoiled the flows. Some tell it were by the hand of Most Exalted Fallskeeper Alatoasz Berendim at Duskwood Dell, a time after the Darkening took hold, and that when the whispers of the Green Goddess no longer came from the falls that bore her moniker, these precious droplets were kept among the last peacekeepers as a sacred reminder of hope and purity...

Further rumors claim the simple clay vial's contents act not only as the Waters of Eldath once did - curing all manner of diseases, curses, maladies, and closing all wounds, while being replenished each day - but that the whispers of the goddess could still be heard within, alerting to the invasion of nearby sacred groves with bodies of water and the like, as well as tainted or poisonous liquids nearby. Those who carried the burden of guarding these sacred waters would also be afforded some protections from physical harm, but only if they wore no armor or readiness to violence.

The weight of duty

Item type: Shield
Domains: Law, Fate

Description:
A large shield found with holes pocking its surface. The construction is clearly inherently flawed, but there is a strange potency that radiates from the red smears about the holes. Is this the burst sanguine of a saint or blackguard? All that can be told is that this bulwark was wielded in the line of duty and it still radiates this weight even in eons past its time of service.

Powers:

Min level 7
Circle max 5

-1 ac, 5% physical DI, weight increased to 50 lbs,
1/day shield, 1/day Caster level 10 endurance.

The soul battery

Item type: Medium sized drum appearance
Domains: Evil, Magic

Description:
A large tube which thrums with horrifying prospect, to hold it is to hear the screams of the entombed. Within this device seems to be a particularly evil or good soul, one cannot tell, but its imprisonment is something that most would not wish on their darkest foes. Yet if one felt that sinister draw to the darkness, They could also slide the curious tendril of sapping power into its depth and draw on the near fathomless depth of this beings power. Rumor holds that this is where the creatures of the blood war draw their power, and in dark times, dark measures are needed indeed.

Powers:

Min level 5
Circle max 5

+1 CL to all spells
Dark fire becomes negative energy weapon

[Must be emoted when spells are being cast, it can be assumed that the wailing horror of a captured soul being drained is clearly unique and unmistakable sound.]

The last scabbard

Item type: Cape model, Scabbard
Domains: Metal, War

Description:

This ruined sword seems to be fused into this scabbard. What ever beast was last killed with it seems to have been something of obscene power. But due to its age long neglect it has festered and bound the blade stuck within its sheath. One can feel the malformed blade through the aged leather and it resounds with a potent and unknown magic. What ever it once was, it clearly is now simply a battery of divine might, that shall serve, in sheath or hand.

Powers:

Min level 8
Circle max 5

+1 Fortitude, Will
Slots 1, 2
+3 discipline
+3 concentration
5% physical DI V Slashing
1/day Keen

Knight Of Pentacles

Tattered Sun Cloak
Item Type: Faded Sunburst Cloak
Domain: Sun or Chaos
Description: A threadbare sunburst cloak once adorned by members of the Illumined Brethren. Although the brotherhood has been scattered by the Rising of the Slime, some sliver of the hope promised by the unrealized Second Ascension is present within its fibers.

Tarnished Oathsworn Ring
Item Type: Ring
Domain: Law or Planning
Description: This ring, once worn by those who swore themselves to the Society of the Ordered Mind, was taken by scavengers following the Meeting of the Minds. The inscrutable Ordered Mind's "new cosmic order" never came to pass, though some small measure of its power remains within this artifact.

Substantial Shadowstuff
Item Type: Miscellaneous item
Domain: Darkness or Cave
Description: A piece of Shadowstuff that has solidified and become rigid since the Sacred Cave's destruction. Nevertheless, the dark powers that Dwelled within that once sacred place continue to work their malignant designs on those who can attune themselves to this artifact.

Name: Fossilised Dinosaur Poo

Item type: Stone, rock cluster, fossil, poo.

Type: Dinosaur, Reptilian, Earth, Ubtao.

Description:
This impressive fossil would be considered a burden to carry for most, but not all. It is a clumpy heap and impressive at a glance at how it has managed to stay together in its original cluster for untold millennium. Compelling red hues streak through the fossil giving it a certain appeal and magnetism, while not actually possessing magnetic properties. The uninitiated might be forgiven for passing by this fossil thinking it nothing more than a clumpy cluster of rocks. However to the initiated its raw presence would call to them, seeking their grasp and deserving a special place on their journey.

I can expand on this concept if you like it.

Phoenix Rising

This isn't a relic, but a suggested ability for any relic, or even non-relics. A relic weapon or hammer or magical ability might have x/day Shelgarn's, and x/day special power. The special power being like the orog arrow bundler where it will create 1 weapon of a specific type and name thematic to the item itself with enhanced stats. The weapon itself would have to be labeled in description something like do not wield, do not trade. Only for animating by the person who created it.

In this way someone with a Hatred relic might be able to create vengeful weapons which can be animated for a short duration, or metal/racial relics might create racial based weapons. Animate Dwarven hammers, dancing elven longswords. Or for non-relic guardians, like a dedicated evoker wizard, a weapon bundler could make one dagger of all 5 elements restricted to use for animation so that they can have fancy animated elemental shards.

Name:
Goblet of Living Venom
Item type:
Goblet
Relic type:
Reptilian, Ooze
Description:
Imbued with the interwoven divine essences of two now long gone deities, this ancient goblet is encrusted with dark green emeralds depicting vipers and is filled with what seems to be venom. The liquid inside it appears to have a life of its own, sometimes coming out in the form of a snake that snaps and hisses at whoever makes use of the goblet's powers.
