An apology and a temporary farewell.

Ladies and Gentles all on the server, and Valo and Stranger in particular,

I owe you an apology for my behavior recently. Some PvP incidents have occurred where I disagreed violently about whether they were fair or not. But the key part here has nothing to do with whether I was right or wrong but my extreme reaction to them. In their wake I unfortunately behaved with extreme discourtesy to two involved players: Valo and Stranger. I sincerely and humbly apologise to both of them as well as to the server in general for this.

Unfortunately I have been under a great deal of stress lately. A close personal friend is reaching the end of a years-long battle with terminal cancer, and he is losing. I have done my best to support him but it has taken its toll. We do not know how long he has left but it does not look good. I am realising that I am on my last nerve because of this and have arrived at an important decision.

EfU has been a haven for me, a place I could relax and have fun. But when I have this heavy a load on my shoulders in real life, I simply cannot satisfactorily handle the more extreme stresses the game sometimes imposes on players who perhaps engage a bit too intensely. For this reason I am leaving EfU until such time as my friend's battle has come to an end, as well as some recovery time for myself afterwards.

I apologise to any players I may leave in the lurch. I have enjoyed playing Rune. I have enjoyed the company of many of the fine characters in both Upper and Lower. I will miss you all. I cannot say that I hope to be back soon -- for obvious reasons -- but the many good memories I have from here will help to sustain me while I am gone.

I'm sorry for your RL circumstances TOH, and wish the best for your friend.  I completely understand about EFU and stress - as enjoyable as EFU is, sometimes it gets so stressful for me that I look forward to work the next day.  Try to get yourself centered.

Earlier this week, my friend slipped into his last coma. He passed away late last night. I'll be dealing with this for a while.

As I mentioned in the Leaving thread, I'll be gone for a while coping with this. I just felt I owed people here to tell them what had happened. Rock on, EfU, I'll be back eventually.
