A Reminder about Sendings

Our sending system is a tool that is provided in part due to a recognition that we are all playing a game and a method to communicate with other characters IC'ly is a net positive. That said, we do ask that players use the system in the manner that it was intended.

1) Use of the sending system to troll or for the benefit of an IRC audience is not permitted

2) Controversial or IC'ly politically inflammatory remarks should not be made through either the Upper or Lower sending system without prior approval of a DM. To clarify, there is no 'freedom of speech' in Sanctuary and the NPCs would not permit sendings that advocate breaking laws, attacking important NPCs, etc.

3) Under no circumstances should the Messenger Girls or beggar-children be 'roleplayed' in the text of your sending. The NPC is delivering a message from your character, players are expressly forbidden from making it seem like the NPC is making a sending of their own. It is not acceptable to justify this by saying that the NPC was just hired to deliver a message that sounds like it came from a child.

If these guidelines are not followed, we will:

- Restrict a particular character from being able to make sendings

- Potentially remove the system altogether


Good and encouraged uses of sendings are:

- Arranging a group for patrols, quests, expeditions, voyages, etc.

- Announcing a particular event, advertising that a merchant is available, etc.

I personally like sendings when they're made in a manner that is inclusive and makes it more likely for other players/characters to have a chance to be involved in something fun. I like them when the message itself has flair to it and is not just "Going kobold hunting. Meet at the gates. //3-7" (ugh). Try to make your sendings interesting and within the boundaries of good sense and we will all be happy.

I feel like it's necessary to bump this, and clarify:

- The Lower Sending System is still subject to the above restrictions about not really being a place for anti-SG rhetoric. It exists to be of benefit for the Cult Wars and to make it easier for Lower PCs to gather together and do fun stuff. Anti-regime/anti-Upper stuff is best reserved for other places. The NPC there is well aware that the powers-that-be could manage to shut him off or kick his door down if he ever let things be taken too far.

- Please do not be lewd in the sending systems

- Please do not use Sendings as a way to grandstand to the IRC audience
