In a purely PC driven effort, the Watchers are undergoing a change in structure and function. Recent IC events are forcing the organization to adopt a much more militarized stance than that of law enforcement. While law enforcement will remain one of the core responsibilities the Watchers handle, it is far from the only one. Sanctuary is expanding. With that expansion, they will need an army. The Watchers are that army.

The Watchers are broken into three Branches: The Defensive Branch, The Frontier Branch, and the Investigative Branch.

The Defensive Branch of the Watchers is much more concerned with the military operations of the organization. They are the 'soldiers' of Sanctuary more than the 'police' of Sanctuary. Overseen by a Lieutenant, and the Sergeants underneath his command, the Defensive Branch deals with threats both inside and outside of Sanctuary, acts as the primary military organization of Sanctuary in times of war, and puts the muscle behind many of the cases developed by the Investigative Branch.

The Investigative Branch is the primary law enforcement entity within the Watchers. It is supervised by the Chief Inspector, who oversees various other Inspectors, and their standard Watcher subordinates. While it is the responsibility of all branches of the Watchers to enforce Santuary Law, the Investigative Branch focuses on the development of cases, the gathering of information, the development and running of sources. They are the true 'police' of Sanctuary.

The Frontier Branch of the Watchers acts as the institution's primary scouts. Overseen by the Adjudents, and much like the Investigative Branch, the primary responsibility of the Frontier Branch is to develop intelligence for the Defensive Branch to act upon, with the only difference being that they focus beyond the Shield, while the Investigative Branch focuses within.

New PCs wishing to join the Watchers should, from day one, identify which branch they are interested in! This will ensure that your PC is set up for success ICly to achieve his/her IC goal. While being the Watcher who is the "jack of all trades, master of none" is a viable concept, do not be afraid to specialize from the very begining; I can assure you, we are set up to handle it.  There is no better place to play a soldier, sailor (Greater Sanctuary Navy?!), spy, ex-mercenary, dirty cop, or just your average good guy than the Watchers.

If you have interest in joining the Watchers, please find me in IRC as 'dan', or on the forums as 'Rookie.'

I cannot emphasize this enough, This is one, if not THE best time to be a watcher.  Give it a shot, you won't be dissapointed.
