So without any further ado, the Mortals of (ex)Sanq Q and A. [/COLOR]

[COLOR="Lime"]So, err, Scrappayeti, if that is your real name, why would I want to join the Mortals of Sanq?

[COLOR="DeepSkyBlue"]Sometimes, you want to earn the right to be epic the hard way. Sometimes you want to build a character up from nothing, and be so goddamn awesome the whole server turns it head. You power level like Naga on cocaine; you FD three consecutive VP characters just to make a point; you pick forum fights with RWG and make him rage quit before his current character even gets a CHANCE to die…. you gather leet groups for a special cause, you make speeches, you organise a town dance... perhaps you find some crown or other. You get action, adventure and rewards, and you get it all from your own toil, blood and tears.

Other times, you want to have all that without any effort. You want the epic DM quests, good times, finger on the pulse plot engagement and awesome rewards without having to raise a sweat.

Joining the Steps of (ex)-Sanq is the latter of these two options.

Well Scrappayeti, I cannot say I am not tempted, but are the DM quests really all that good?

[COLOR="DeepSkyBlue"]You remember that last DM who ran that faction you were in? And how you thought his/her quests were neat? Well, when that DM was still a humble PC, still wrestling Bogg’s workers and getting bitch slapped by Crazy Jane, our DM was INVENTING epic questing. You want the kitchen sink thrown at you? I guarantee that if you have a boss fight where you don’t burn all your potions, consumables and wand charges, then run around screaming “geTz it OFf me!” as you panic, I will personally refund you both your money and the hours you spent playing.[/COLOR]


But Scrappayeti, if I spend all my consumables on the most epic quests the server has ever seen, what will I use to spam Poisoned Well every single reset?

Sounds good, Scrap, but I’m worried I would just be another faceless player in what must be a massive army of Sanqers?

As you might observe, the Sanq Trippers (those who wish to stop the steps) currently outnumber the Sanq Steppers at about a million to one, sadly we have something of a skeleton crew at the moment (see what I did there?). Join up, and you will be thrust into the big time before you have your second attack/round.

Wait, I have to fight the entire server every time I log on? I mean, obviously I could, Scrapps, but every time I kill more than three or four players at once, I get a stern talking to in the DM white room. Isn’t there another way?

[COLOR="DeepSkyBlue"]Yes! It turns out Sanq Stepping is surprisingly anonymous. Undivver walked the first step, and was never revealed despite having bluff 4. Drabo, my current PC, ran a successful Mistlocke faction as a model citizen for months before he was revealed. And even then I turn up and pretty much spit in Muskroot’s face before anyone clued on. What is the secret? Don’t tell anyone you are a Sanqist! Turns out people very rarely think to ask “Hey, are you in league with the undead?”, and so you can get on with running a normal character the rest of the time. It’s like having all the perks of a normal character, with 15% more free awesome on the side.

But Scrappayeti, I just don’t know what class to play, there are at least, what, eleven to choose from?

[COLOR="DeepSkyBlue"]Easy! Roll a tank! We have a bunch of the highest level support on the server, and no one to stand in front. Fifth circle spells? We got em. 7000xp bardsongs? We got em. Alchemical widgets of all flavours, makes and models? We got em. Cartloads of consumables our strength eight arms cannot carry? We got em. [/COLOR]

[COLOR="DeepSkyBlue"]Hells, we are so desperate for a tank we don’t care if you can RP. We don’t care if you have a backstory. We don’t even care if you have a character name. Turn up with anyone with some hps and AC, and profit. Tanks? We don’t have em.  [/COLOR]


I’m still not sure, will have to work to do any real work to get these amazing buffs?

[COLOR="DeepSkyBlue"]Argh! Why are you so demanding! Alright, how’s this, I personally promise to sit outside your level 6 dungeon and cast spells on you like a guardian angel. You wont even need to learn how to hotkey your abilities. Just right click something red and go to the kitchen for a beer. [/COLOR]


Well, I do like being buffed and having great support, but sometimes I want something deeper. Can I learn anything about the mysterious myths and legends of the server in this faction?

[COLOR="DeepSkyBlue"]Well, it turns out the Nightrisers have been around for a while, so they know a few things. Remember that time you made all those hard lore rolls to read ancient Netherese? And how you were only ten or twenty lore off finding that big secret? Well it turns out the Ancient Netherese Empire speaks Ancient Netherese (who knew, right?). In fact, our entire player sub-forum is written in Ancient Netherese. You have to make a lore roll just to post your characters name in the “Introduction and orientation” thread. Ancient lore? We got it in spades. [/COLOR]


Learning the ancient lore of the sever is okay, but I am also pretty shallow, Scrappayeti, will I get to hang around with the cool kids? Will I get respect?

You are right, those guys do look cool, but is there any actual RP, I mean, do you get to do cool stuff with them?

[COLOR="DeepSkyBlue"]Well, we try to keep the inter-character RP down to a minimum, so we can powerquest as fast as possible, but unfortunately the plot dictates RP stuff happens if we like it or not. So far the Sanqers have travelled to other planes of existence; fought  dragons both living and dead; bargained with extra-planar entities; played politics with legends; travelled to the underdark; eye gouged the mother of all beholders; stolen server secrets; surfed a dracolich and drunk cocktails with immortals. Hells, our faction base is so exotic and hardcore, you die half the time just getting there. You want wild adventure in extraordinary locales? We got it. [/COLOR]


If my character dies, will you write an awesome song/poem about it like you did for Scrave?

[COLOR="DeepSkyBlue"]Sure, what the hell, provided you create a character name that rhymes easily with Conclave and grave.  [/COLOR]


So, apart from guaranteed shenanigans with the granddaddy DM of the server, epic quests, high level player support, instant access to key plot lines, revelations of mysterious server lore, a personalised eulogy, a chance for OP loot and unique RPing experiences, what else do I get?

[COLOR="DeepSkyBlue"]Okay, last throw of the dice. This faction matters. The Mortals of Sanq will, one way or another, live or die, win or lose, change the server forever. FOREVER. Never before I have I felt more like the actions I took hinged the way the server’s history would unfold. Join up now, and you have a chance to have your players name up on a plaque on the next incarnation of the server… or at least graffiti your name onto the block of stone Ozymandias’ legs are standing on.[/COLOR]

I recently spent some time in the toolset improving the experience for this group. If you're interested in getting involved feel free to speak with me on IRC and we'll come up with something together and get you into the thick of things quickly.

Allow me to state that, various perks aside, this should generally be considered a very dangerous and difficult undertaking with an extremely high chance of failure. Success is far from guaranteed, and you may be mercilessly and rightfully executed at the first opportunity if discovered to be a Sanqite. However, I am motivated to make it a fun pursuit for as long as it lasts.
