If there are any players out there who are intrigued by the possibilities of the NWN toolset and have always wanted to get good at building or scripting, I'd invite you to get in touch with me. Serious inquiries only please!

Wow, I have to admit I'm surprised by how many people of you have been contacting me! Since it's not really a secret, I'll just mention what this is about so I won't need to respond to all of you.

Basically, it's an experiment to see how much useful content built by players (who won't have access directly to the module) can create. As a way to start out, I'm inviting anyone interested to build some Randoms/Exploration Areas.

Particularly talented players with a genuine enthusiasm for building and knack for it may, in time, be asked to tackle more complex projects (like scripted quests).

Random/Exploration areas are pretty easy to start out with because they don't need to be reset every time a new group comes upon them (unlike a true scripted quest). For example, you can literally place a custom NPC with custom loot just in the area itself directly without concern for interfacing with the module.

So the idea is that an interested player will take one area, divide it up into 3+ little sub-areas, and have each one be a little interesting exploration random. As with EFU randoms, they don't need to all be combat focused - some could be a NPC with a shop, or just a little quirky scene, or whatever.

Of course some should be combat too. One way to do it would be to just have a small handful of custom-placed NPCs be fought. Another would be to have encounters spawn default bioware creatures. If you want the PCs to fight efu-custom monsters, then you should make a note about it and just let me know (the spawns will then be handled by a DM in implementation).

If you've seen something happen in EFU before (like a region descriptor, a passphrase to open a secret door, a placeable that casts a special spell, etc.) then it's safe to assume it can easily be repeated. But there shouldn't really be a need for any new scripts (unless you have a great idea, in which case you can talk to me about it).

Feel free to run the theme of what you want to build by me in IRC.

Is this going to be open long-term? As in- can we take a while to learn the toolset at our own pace and then if we create something worthwhile get in touch in the summer?
