Pickpocket, or PUTpocket?

How about allowing people with a certain number of ranks in Pickpocket access to a player tool that can be used on items in your inventory to put them secretly into someone else's inventory? The size of the item in question would affect the DC.

Possible uses: planting evidence; hiding evidence; passing potions to an ally to prepare for an ambush; legerdemain and prestidigitation for entertainment value; cheating; etc.

Personally I have thought of these situation, however...

I want suggestions to give good means to presenting these kind of things in ways that are not per say - lame.

Stealth is too magical to properly portray dexterous and fine tricks, sleight of hand or any such, and just sneaking to someone and being able to do these kind things should demand something a bit more / else to make it more interesting.

How about you use the player tool to add one object to another, allowing you to trade away 1 item (visible) and leave your partner with 2 items?

So I need to get rid of this stolen key, quickly. I say, hey, take this free helmet. I don't need it anymore. You're like sweet silver raven gear ima get the whole set. Unbeknownst to you, I used Putpocket to put the key in the helmet. Now, when you take the helmet, the key also shows up in your inventory!

Unless you pass a spot check.

I'd notice instantly due to my masterful inventory sorting system.

If your PP skill is high enough you can hide stuff on search checks anyway, no?

However, I like the general idea. Especially for fake evidence it would give a whole lot of new possibilities. Its kinda lame to just do it from stealth though I agree.

Also it would be cool if you would need to exchange an item instead of just putting a new one in. So, same weight and size would be needed or you just get busted or the DC raised to ridiculous heights.

This could be incredibly fun.

Well, just as a comment, how "lame" it is really only has to do with what the DC required to succeed would be. If the DC is high enough to give a reasonable chance of the "putpocketer" being caught, then it's not really so different from missing or making a save in PvP.

I am reminded fondly of the Fallout series in which traps and dynamite could be placed on an NPC.

And then immolation ensues.

Though probably not something wanted on EFU it's a novel idea certainly.

Passing away hostile relics before a patdown would be a great tool.

Seems cool to plant stuff on people or even get rid of things right before

I already use pickpocket to roleplay passing hidden stuff between people, myself. To which I once passed some hidden food and failed the save so bad I lost gold, it was astounding. XD

Maybe make it so that it's a dm required action like pickpocketing or pvp, unless in areas without npcs? That could curve it from just happening all the time in town, at the least.
