Blood as a reagent

So, I was thinking up ideas to reinvigorate my interest and it occurred to me how excellent in so many ways it might be if this worked:

If drawn blood could be used as a reagent in summoning.
Specifically, a tiefling's blood could grant a +1/2 summon of either abyssal or infernal creatures dependent upon their lineage.

An Aasimar's / Paladin's blood would do the same except calling celestials.

A Genasi blood would be equivalent to their elemental type.

Sorcerer's blood would be based upon their chosen theme.

Mystrylan blood would work much like an unbound reagent.
It doesn't seem unfeasible, given that the Hematologist perk seems to imbue drawn blood with magic and it has its own inbuilt limitation by restricting how often it will function this way.

Otherwise, I can see this encouraging mad wizard cults who harvest blood to empower their works - which is its own conflict generator. I am sure appropriate limitations can be put in place if the idea doesn't seem too outrageous.

I for one would begin harvesting blood with wild abandon.

It is through Art, and through Art only, that we can realise our perfection.

Blood has always been equally useful in other aspects of magic.

Scrying on someone based on their blood, regardless of if they are in the mist or not could be equally thematic and cool.

Maybe a boosted curse could be put on a PC if you have Bestow Curse in your inventory.

Granted other things may be more warranted for scripters time but it'd be kinda neat.

I like the idea ^^

I have been thinking myself about giving some voodoo flavor to my PCs, like to be able to curse or to cast a spell on someone far away from you using something from the target. To use the blood in order to do so would be one of the ways.

More things with blood? I agree with this suggestion. Lots of good details here. I'm sure the DMs in charge of new content will enjoy it too, because they're so handsome.

hmm... thinking in a new prc: Voodoo Master

able to cast spells at distance... using blood as reagent (maybe add it as an extension of the current bloodmage prc?)
no idea of how to make it possible although (for now, brainstorm)

These are great ideas. I would also like to see blood as a reagent in alchemy and herbalism. What if druids could come up with some kind of Withering reduction based on blood magic, sort of like with the Marcail tree?

Disco

Well a sorc having a tiefling buddy would make a rather leathal duo. Perhaps a bit too lethal?

MentalMagnetism

Then again, tiefling buddies aren't common nor appreciated by society.

Blood is a popular reagent in alchemy and herbalism already Witchcraft :)
