Bring back scripted diplomacy Checks

Something I remembered I miss from the old setting was that the majority of NPC-granted quests had a Persuade check to roll at the end, whereby you could acquire usually a stack of potions, some healing rods or similar. In fact, some had the other option of an Intimidate check to scare a better reward out the NPC. In fact, the very first newbie quest by the stairs had Intimidate, Bluff and Persuade options.

Having played a charismatic Bard with high Persuade, I really enjoyed this as it lead to party leaders designating my PC to do the diplomacy and reward negotiation, whereas here it doesn't matter if the 6 Charisma drooling half-orc pyscho or the persuasive Rogue conman is the one collecting the reward.

The scripted checks led to RP at the ends of quests as opposed to just "End, Run to NPC, Collect, Split", as you could have the situation of for example "do we trust the smooth-talking guy to negotiate the reward, or is he sneaky enough to skim off money" and made diplomatic characters valuable for their ability to scrounge up healing.

In fact, I would really like to see some scripted quests with a diplomatic or stealth base rather than a pure combat one.

Yalta

Certainly think this would make sense for things like Harpies and Jergal quests.

Semli

I'd definately like to see Persuade gain back its old place on the server.  The only check I've seen for the skill in the new module so far was for a delivery, but I'll admit I've still got a lot left to explore.

Equinox

i -really- like this idea. gives me something other than a bluff check when im disguised to use my points on. also cool quest concept.

Gullible Righteousness

Awesomeness, Egon.

I support this!

Letsplayforfun

Fully supported! Bring back social skills uses!

I can has fun?

I remember when a Persuade check was routine when dealing with any NPC, scripted or unscripted, friendly or hostile.

Let's go back to that! I miss the awesome role play from the DMs when I would make a crappy persuade check.

Egon the Monkey

Bumped due to the big discussion about giving more classes social skills.
