When I played Neverwinter Nights, it kept flickering, and crashes every 5 to 20 minutes, or longer if i am lucky. I just formatted my PC and changed to Vista yesterday, but the problem remained. Anyway I took the video card out, and change to an older one, it has worked fine so far, other than one single crash which looked different than the typical problem.

The ORIGINAL setup that crashes:

Intel Xeon X3350 (@2.66ghz)
Gigabyte EP35-DS4 (Rev 2.1)
Gigabyte 650W PSU
Corsair TWIN2X2048-6400C4DHX (2x2GB)
Asus 8800GTS 512MB
Windows Vista Business 32bit

Note: I have tried the same setup with Windows XP Professional 32bit, same problems.

The TEMPORARY setup (seems to work):

Intel Xeon X3350 (@2.66ghz)
Gigabyte EP35-DS4 (Rev 2.1)
Gigabyte 650W PSU
Corsair TWIN2X2048-6400C4DHX (2x2GB)
Winfast 7600 GT
Windows Vista Business 32bit

Does anyone else here use a powerful/or similar computer to play NWN, and have no problems? Please post the specs of your PC here.

And please post if you are aware of this problem.

I can has fun?

I'd check the drivers, first of all. No computer problem exists in a vacuum, so there is probably someone else with a similar problem. Try Googling the name of the video card chipset along with adjectives describing the problem.

I have searched google, the internet and bioware forums for weeks, tried many stuff as well, nothing works. And drivers have been up to date.

Nuclear Catastrophe

One thing you missed out.

Do other games on your PC crash similarly, or just NwN?

Wern8

Just NwN mainly.  My current problem now is that I crash right away in about 1 to 5 minutes after I start playing. There are no error messages, it will just crash, then the entire screen will turn white and the normal "program not working" message will appear if i mouse click on the screen.

When I updated my video drivers to current ones I had invisible people and crashing issues.  No one had fixes for it anywhere I looked.  Also, like I told you so many times in PMs, try using an old driver.  When I say old I mean, I am using one thats like 5 or more versions back.  Infact they all had the same issue untill I tried this old one.  I just downloaded the next one below it and tried to play until it worked.

Try using help and support, and fiddle with the resolution settings.

Relinquish

This fixed my problem.

Put this in your shortcuts properties Target line

C:\NeverwinterNights\NWN\nwmain.exe +TestNewModule "modulename"

Wern8

What was your problem, Relinquish? And do I just put in any module's name?

Relinquish

Mine was when i loaded it the menu screen was black. Any module name that you don't have because it'll just go to the module choice screen.

Happens to me too, ugh
