Religion on EFU is something that has often been used for PC factions and as PC's for underlying motivation for their character actions. However with my return to EFU I'd like to do it with a bang...pardon the Talos Pun. Organized religion on EFU is something that has been tried on some occasions with a modicum of success (Return of the Order, for example).

Developing a variety of dogma spins, rituals, rites, requirements, and ordeals I hope to see "The Furies" elevated beyond the usual expectations that EFU has come to know and love of everyone's favorite chaos-inspiring, destructive deities.

Already a few folks have come forward with awesome interest so it seemed appropriate to throw this up to spread the word: If you're playing a fury PC, are interested in playing one, or just want to give 2 cents it's welcomed.

For the uninformed: Talos, Umberlee, Malar, Auril

Quote from: "The Pursuit"As EFU is a smaller setting than others, particularly compared to deities who tend to scale entirety of Toril under different auspices based on cultures, it is my hope to make a uniquely "Ymphian Doctrine" of the faiths of the Furies.  What that means is rather than the traditional dogmas, a slightly less orthodox religious message and a more "EFU-Custom" feel to the deities, their workings, and how they interact with the populace. It's no small feat and one I imagine others of the Faiths may contest but I believe it would lead to more fun for all involved

Quote from: "The Mission"The solidification of the Furies as a uniquely cohesive church, with rites and rituals explicitly designed with Mistlocke in mind. The Wilds of Mistlocke, Mistlocke itself, and every living being in the Module is the scope and intent. To spread the message in various ways and forms to bolster the prestige and awareness of the awesome power that the Furies wield.

Quote from: "The Hierarchy"Everyone knows that it tends to go Talos -> Furies, with conflict occurring on all sides. It is my hope however to see followers of all the furies elevated and assisted under the messages of Talos. In terms of standard RL religions I would hope to see the Furies raised as a Pantheon all of their own. Talos the greater, with each of the lesser deities of Fury being portrayed as part deity part "Saint/Prophet". As clerics of every fury are not always around and they supplement talos in many ways, the availability of Talos' clergy would allow prayer to reach the other deities.

In event of other clerics being found the strengthening of their efforts by the blessing s and boons of Talos', providing protection, funding, and more to ensure their followers can spread the message through the harshest of environments.

Quote from: "How it works"In canon D&D where religious followers scope in the millions deities have the ability to struggle for power. The hope is to lessen the conflict amongst the furies but ultimately I think it's important to share this with folks:

In the celestial Bureacracy the Furies as a whole are unified in pursuit of destruction and chaos. They are equally reviled by the deities of law and order, and similarly likeminded faiths. To this end they bend together for power and scale of worship spreading destruction to the corners of Toril as is their domain. Thanks to the DMs various "Domains" have been established that are greatly suiting to the faiths. The Wilds are filled with predator and prey, naval travel/fishing/trade is commonplace, and Mountains that are easily traveled.

There is still a love of chaos, there is still a desire for destruction, but in regards to the civilized man it is a matter of respect and recognition. Many forget great deities of power are able to be both terrifying to many but bountiful to those who recognize their egos, their powers, and their place in the world.

Talos for instance revels in destruction but could just as easily burn a forest to the ground to clear land for fresh farming. A city can be toppled in earthquake or and entire mountain can be carved into with tectonics providing mining opportunity.

Malar can ruthlessly slaughter but at the same time to those who prove worthy he can see gifted with prized game, great feasts, hunt one's foes in the wilds, or end a famine.

Umberlee is a fickle bitch who can wreck entire ports, but she is equally capable of favorable tradewinds, protecting a seaport with great storm on a naval foe, and more.

Auril is a chill and heartless tyrant of the mountains but equally can offer succor to those trapped in avalanche, bring misfortune upon one's foes in mountain combat, and destroy entire camps.

Stop on by #Fury on IRC

IC steps will be taken to flesh out the individually unique dogmas more and raise just how these changes play out. Consider this mostly an attempt at an addendum to the "Realmslore, Major/Minor Deities" posts.

NetherGonnaGiveYouUp

Not to be confused with #Furries.

I still support this message.

I shall make my return to EFU as RWG's lieutenant and fully support this concept.

Just wanted to say huge ups on the Fury PCs I've had a chance to encounter and RP with so far.

The first post has been edited with a bit of OOC information but none of the juicy IC bits given away. As things develop I'll edit it on occasion with more information to the cause.
