While considering the EFUSS skill system, it struck me that Cartography would be a very sensible and fitting addition. At the moment it seems like anyone can purchase mapping equipment and start producing maps, which seems unrealistic considering how advanced cartography really is. Adding cartography as a skill would increase realism, and likely provide specialized scout/explorer characters with more unique value.

I play a PC on the side who is a cartographer. I think that although this suggestion sounds fitting, it would be unnecessary given just how rare mapmakers are and how unnoticed and unused this feature is.

Playing a ranger tends to mesh well conceptually with the idea of a cartographer, perhaps take a few points in Lore to demonstrate the type of skills required.

It is through Art, and through Art only, that we can realise our perfection.

Nice idea, but I think step one would be to make maps useful. Right now they're far too heavy and buggy to be any use. I tried selling maps back in the Underdark days but it never caught on.

Cartography as an efuss skill doesn't serve much purpose. Its not something that has a visible result. The In Game maps are hardly adequate for more then a touch of role-playing. To be honest, it's either something you want your character to do, or it's something you don't.

What would this as a numerical value even mean? You either made the map and can provide it, or you did not. People can understand it, or they cant. I dunno.
