More accurate dyes?

I had the unfortunate displeasure of finding out that "dark blue" was actually "pansy teal" today. Would it be at all possible to maybe rework the dye system in some way to give more accurate results, or better yet, get a chance to see what the dyes actually look like before purchasing them?

I'm probably reaching a bit too far with this one, but I figured I'd throw it out there nonetheless.

I wonder if it's possible to make dye bottles that cost 0 gold, but only last 10-20 seconds (the dye effect, not the armor] when used as an OOC way to see what a dye looks like before buying it.

There are countless dye shops / merchants that could nearly be copied over from other mods on the vault.  Probably the easiest way to solve this issue I think.

Or just do a little trial and error and spend a little more coin!

Memorize the color palette!

To be honest it would be a nice fix, but I imagine it's hardly a priority.

Well, even if you could just buy the dyes, and the bottles themselves would disappear after 30 seconds or something (not sure if this can be done).....

Then people could export their character and try the dyes offline. I know sometimes I wish I could test some colors without feeling like it would be a multiple thousand gold investment to try them out.

Perhaps another option would be to just have someone make an EFU:M color testing module that has the same dye names as EFU:M that you can export your character into offline to try them out. That would probably be really easy actually.

Dyes are a huge drain on gold. I'd rather dye everything black then try to mess around with hundreds of gold for a colour that prolly isn't even offered to begin with. I understand that the restriction on dyes are something that keeps the dirty backwater town feel, but I feel cheated far more often then satisfied when I'm working with these.

I have dumped gold in the past, but I expend many ooc resources ensuring that a certain combination etc is the right one. I've got most of the dyes purchased on PCs devoted to the task, who serve to be uploaded and test subjects in character creators. It's annoying to have to go through this much work however.

Solution: Dye everything black.

All the dyes that are miscolored are the same as the ones found in standard NWN. You can try those out and see for yourself what colors they bring. EFU-specific dyes have the colors ascribed them and usually unique names as well.

Alternatively, someone with patience could make a reference grid for colors to post on the forums.
