Two Houses In Fair Verona

Change the -2/+1 DR to -2/- flat.

It is hardly overpowered and will not change the course of any PvP I imagine- seeing as that anyone taking the perk will be using their fists and not a rapier, which still does more dmg per hit than a typical fighter with fists. :)

It's a very flavorful perk and I don't see the change doing anything to it's popularity or validity in general.

Ebok

Its amazingly powerful at the low levels, and seriously cranks up the toughness of a PC when dealing with hordes. That said, the entire lineup is almost worthless in a PvP. I guess I can go either way on this personally.

Its very strong. More so in the beginning then at the end. However, you are not limited to fists at all, you just -can0 fight very well with them.

Oddyseus

Brawlers gonna brawl I say.
Fists are a must.

Vlaid

Well, I use the perk so I'm a little biased.

But it might be more interesting to make it 1/- at 1, and 2/- at 8. It is kind of weird when you play a brawler at low level and you're nearly immune to some of the low level quests. But 2/- would likely be too strong to just have starting off with.

lets say a pc using a 1hander, unbuffed, hits for an average of 10.
You shrug off 2 damage with you 2/- dr.
Thats the same as having 20% Damage Immunity. At least for unbuffed fights etc.

And also. I'll explain to you who don't know how Damage Reduction, Damage Soak and Damage immunity works.

Damage Immunity, as most might know stacks with everything including itself.

Then we have Damage Resistance and Damage Soak.
The 2/+1 would really be "+1 Soak 2 Damage" while the 2/- would just be what it is 2 physical Damage resistance.

When you get hit by something these thee different "abilities" apply in this order;
1. Damage Immunity
2. Damage resistance
3. Damage Soak
(4. If you have damage resistance from feats such as dwarven defender DR or Epic Damage Reduction. It applies on step 4.)

All these stack with eachother removing a little damage at each step.

So. Quest-potion no.1 Blur. Aka +1 Soak 5 Damage for a time.
Giving Brawler perk 2/- Damage resistance would, as you can see, stack with blur since its a different type of Damage Reduction, instead of just overriding it. Very Over-powered.

That said, they get it from level 1 too.
Compare that to the other perk, Man at Arms I think who gets 10% Damage immunity at level 8.
To take away 2 damage with that you have to get hit for 20.

I encourage people to please, please at least have a look at www.nwnwiki.org before making suggestions that would have big mechanical impacts on the game.

I would comment here, but akke already covered all you need to know. Agree 100% with him.

The only thing I would say is that it feels like the damage reduction is aimed at unarmed fighters. Not fighters who want to use a sword and board, and take it for extra toughness.

If that's the case, it's no better than blur stacking with the damage immunity of a barbarian, even sub level 8.

To me, what it boils down to is your perks/class features shouldn't go away when you gain buffs. I wouldn't be terribly sad to see it just become a weaker/same DR style as Barbarians. The 2/+1 is nice, but it's way too strong starting out, and becomes almost non-existent when you have to blur up to fight anything challenging.

Ok I'll shutup about the perk now, I promise XD
