So, recently, a bunch of kobolds tried to invade Mistlocke. The result?

Lizards sent to the slaughter

Since the spawns come in straight down the centre, they get surrounded and beaten up pretty quickly. I think if the spawns came from multiple areas (like they did back at the Dominion bridge, see areas circled in red), the tide would be more easily turned and the city defender's would find themselves on the wrong end of the being-beaten-from-all-sides-stick and make things more interesting in general.

Maybe clearing away more trees and and widening the invasion approach would give the spawns a better chance as well.

Incorrigible

It doesn't help that usually there are only X ammount of invasion monsters alive at any time. Sort of sucks when you have like 15 people there and only two lizardfolk or trolls. Nice suggestion though!

I'm pretty sure what happened here was it was assumed that the PCs would defend the bridge, but they don't. They charge right out and even when they don't start on the spawns, the fight creeps closer and closer until, finally, the PCs are right on top of it. Then it becomes a matter of, if you want to fight at all, you need to be right there with everyone else because none of the monsters make it from the spawn point.

I think Caster's suggestion is good, but also there need to be more monsters spawned at once so that the PCs wind up much more scattered than they are now.

You could either have them spawn in multiple areas at the bridge, or come out of the woods near the old fellow polishing his own gravestone as well, to further split up defenders. Also, for types such as goblin/kobold, more spawns would be better, or also of the tougher variety. Kobold thugs for instance, can be pretty dangerous, but didnt see any spawning.

PanamaLane

I would add another spawn point right at the entrance to the bridge. Force PC's to defend further back or be flanked by these spawns.

If three spawn points were added, spread out in a wide line, would that do it?
