I'd like to suggest that this scale better for higher levels. The quest was overly easy, and while it's rewards were fitting for the challenge, I think both could use a nice increase.

In short -

- Increased difficulty of higher end spawns
- Increase XP slightly from monsters (none was given at 7 for any creature besides the boss that rewarded 4, a level below the max)
- Increase rewards to be worthy of a party. (Single potions were dropping from most containers)

Spiffy Has

Second this motion.

This quest badly needs help.

Shadow Slayers should spawn when there's level seven or eights in the group, or there should be an optional section.

Even if no additional xp or items were to drop, the enemies strength needs to be upped.

Right now it seems more suitable as a 2-4 quest than one that's maximum of level eight.

The Return Of The King

An optional area much like the temple of hoar Optional area would be amazing and suit this quest very much- a brief trip into the shadow realm anyone?

I would like to point out that a reasonably high level cleric (seven or eight) who can turn undead makes this quest which is nominally difficult into the most delicious of cake-walks. I do think its difficulty should be increased, perhaps through the use of shadow spawns which use invisibility and hide to approach and attack PCs like unto Wild Orc guerrillas?

Some might call me a wuss here, but it'd be nice if it doesn't turn into a compete nightmare quest. I agree it could use a bump in difficulty to deserve the level range, but as it stands it is one of the few quests at level 7-8 that's actually of a lower danger, lower reward type. I like having it around for those times where you have a group of people who would like to quest but haven't got a good group, or are feeling tired and unfocused, or lagging, or whatever. At least for me, it's not every time I want to quest that I'm up for tackling something like Tower of Mercy or any of the other reasonably hard quests open to a level 8 character - having an option like this is nice, as long as the reward matches the difficulty.

Incorrigible

More depth would be nice, but this quest can actually be very challenging lots of the time. Especially with all those sneak attacks and concealment. Of course, if you have a big group tailored specifically to fight the quest it becomes very easy as it seems to always be one difficulty and not get stronger for larger parties.

Yes, please. I'm not really interested in the "low lisk low reward" thing. It's not an adventure if you don't have a chance of dying.

putrid_plum

While I do think the quest is rather easy I also agree not every quest needs to be super hard.

There are tons of quests out there to challenge the well put-together high level group. There are very few available to those who -are- occasionally interested in the "low risk low reward" thing; People without an optimal setup or who have other reasons to want to do something less lethal that isn't chatting in the square. Seems only reasonable there's at least something like this around.

Exactly. It's easy to make a quest more difficult for yourself if you enjoy the challenge. Take too few or too many people, do it the hard way somehow, take risks. On the other hand it's impossible to make a quest easier and if you get supply drained on a higher level PC, easy quests let you get things back without having to run Hive or something. If you don't like easy quests, go do Lizardmen instead.

This quest can be tough if you don't have a cleric, if you don't metagame alignments the first time a PC does it, if you keep getting spammed with STR drain. TBH it's cool that a cleric CAN effectively turn undead on a quest, Risers were hard to affect usefully. I'd suggest a bit of Turn Resistance on one sort of mob, that's all.

I was not pleased with the loot drop when I did this previously, folks disagreed with me though by and large. Apparently there are amazing drops mixed in with the scant pickings, and I've seen a few shadow themed items that I assume originated from therein.

Otherwise, it was a pretty cake quest, which isn't terrible in and of itself but the return was not comparative to other QAs that are easy (harpies comes to mind).
