I disagree with the intention and the substance of this post.

Obviously making massive parties isn't very fun, but I do condone people being "nice" OOC'ly to involve more people, it is not something that should be discouraged.

There are two sides to this, really. You can be a nazi about who is in your group and who is not, and keep the amount of loot you get as high as possible and the number of times you die as low as possible, or you can let everyone in which leads to less loot and more deaths. Being the nazi also tends to lead to less fun, as you meet less people, while letting everyone in means you meet a ton of people with usually leads to more fun and more RP. We play this game to have fun, some of us have fun by having the most badass character on the server, some of us have fun regardless of what their character sheet says and just enjoy the RP. I recomend never taking more than 6 on a quest, keep to 3 or 4 if you can, and make sure everyone has plenty of supplies. Let one, maybe two random people come along if they want, it's just polite and maybe they'll be a great asset to your group or you'll meet a really interesting character.

Don't bring along more than about two or three random people, and never make your party entirely out of them unless you're a brand new PC. People get killed.
