Old Stones not renting rooms

In reference to this post, I am unable to rent a room from Ebeneezer Grosse of the Old Stones. He gets as far as "So, you want to rent a room in the Old Stones, eh! I can help with that" and the only dialogue option after that is "Nothing."

Character: Valariel Arlond.

As I said, all three rooms are rented out right now (admittedly, one to a dead guy).

I suppose the dialogue is a bit misleading, but that's just how the system works.

Arch Rogue

Is that to make sure nobody can metagame who has what room? If so, nice!

Howlando

The dead guy's room has been opened up, and I changed the dialogue slightly to make it more clear that he's just checking to see if a room is available.

It is indeed entirely up to the inhabitant if they want to advertise that they are renting a room.

I rented room 2 and was given a key that worked. However, the chest in the room could not be locked. It just doesn't have that option ticked on the placeable, I would imagine.

After the last reset, my key no longer works. I have the key still, but it does not open the door. Ebeneezer says that the room is now available.

Sorry to post so much about this, but I keep running into problems.

<@Johannes> This (frustratingly) appears to be an issue with InnoDB, which is what the tables relating to JRent are using to manage data.
<@Johannes> It appears to be LOCKING and CACHING in the most infuriating manner, so that occasionally stuff that is saved from in-game doesn't properly store into the database
:-(
<@Johannes> For this reason, I suspect that I may need to convert the tables to the mainstream data storage method :/
<@Johannes> This is more work than it sounds!
:-(

.. hours later....

<@Johannes> Done! Thank god. I think that rent should be fixed now, although to be safe I think that we'll need to reset the server.
<@Johannes> That way we'll be resetting the MySQL session

See a DM for reimbursement of gold used, hopefully data won't be lost anymore.

P.S. There's no reason for the chests to be lockable.

Portal Rat

Thanks for that, guys.

Also, the chests should be lockable so that visitors to your room can't go rifling through your stuff.

Arch Rogue

Don't invite anyone in who you suspect might do that I guess.
