I was told to report it a few days ago and forgot!

Apparently, when you fail a recipe and bring forth a vicious beast more commonly known as the CHICKEN, and then you kill it, NPC's in the line of sight go hostile and beat the shit out of you.

Which is why you're not supposed to do Herbalism or Alchemy near NPC's :(

You can't normally set up a table near the NPC's, so it's not normally an issue.
