Darkfire adjustment

I'm not going to suggest how to change it or anything, I just will be pointing out something in the hopes that it might be adjusted by the staff. I will be using a level 8 spellcaster as an example because it is easier to use even numbers. My point is made off of data from the mechanics changes section of the information tab. Please correct anything if there is a post buried somewhere with changes that are not mentioned in the information section.

QuoteFlame weapon:
This spell is a second circle arcane spell. It does 1d4 damage +1 per caster level, to a max of +10. The duration is 2 minutes/level. A level 8 spellcaster can enflame a weapon to deal 1d4+8, for a duration of 16 minutes.

Darkfire:
This is a third circle divine spell. It does 1d4 damage +1 per every 4 caster levels. The duration is 1 turn(one minute) per level. A level 8 spellcaster can enflame a weapon to deal 1d4+2, for a duration of 8 minutes.
It seems a little... strange... that a third circle spell is weaker and lasts for half the time of a second circle spell with a similar effect. I'm just not quite seeing why a higher level spell gets a 75% reduction in damage dealt, 50% reduction in duration, and still requires the strict code of faith behind the class which can sometimes restrict casters from wearing certain types of armor, colors worn, or weapons.

Maybe this could perhaps be adjusted so they are at the very least equal, even if being higher level spell slot. The actual adjustments I'll let the staff think over, I just wanted to point this out and say it looks a little fishy. If any DM could explain to me the reason why it is so, if it's not just an oversight, it would be appreciated so that I could understand it better. As mentioned before, if this actually has been changed and the information tab was not updated with the current values, please state so as well.

They last for the same duration in game, whether it's posted or not.

you axed for it

Actually, they don't seem to at all. I haven't tested it strenuously but I believe Darkfire definitely does not last as long as Flame Weapon. Either FW lasts longer than 2 turns/level or Darkfire lasts less.

Had it tested in game and it does seem to be equalized! Thank you for the link, and thanks for the insight VP. It is just the spell changes in the mechanics adjustments information tab that is listing incorrect values.

Though on another note flame weapon and darkfire deal the same damage in the same increments. (+1d4, then +1d6 at level 8+)

The Beggar

Clerics are so awesome, they don't need the boost.

To prove the point, even goblins know it:

QuoteColonel Spitfire: You attacked my defended position without a cleric in your party?! Oh, pooooor tactical decision. HAHAHAHAA!

Mad Jack Dubloons

That reminds me of the GOBLIN SUPERHERO than Wcsherry spawned and harassed Canzah, me and some other folk to no end.
