Underwater suggestions

Hullo!

Since underwater areas can be pretty nasty on players, OOCly, I'd like to suggest a couple of things to make things more manageable, without removing any of the "hard as bricks" thrill underwater exploration has to offer.

1) Could map pins be added to indicate where the surfacing points are located? Especially in the areas with multiple "depths", since it can sometimes be pretty disorienting to come back up to an area with zero long-distance view and with everything looking the same. ICly any character with a sense of direction would know where they got in, but OOCly, the confusion might cost valuable seconds.

2) From reading a thread in the general forum, apparently certain "dive into the water" transitions are still one-way only; Could perhaps an OOC warning be added to these transitions that you can't come back up the same way? Again, ICly such a place would be easily recognizable, but OOCly that isn't the case. I still remember outright drowning a couple of times just because of such transitions back in the Underdark when the underwater mechanic was first added - It's one of the most frustrating ways to die.

I agree! these points made are pretty reasonable. Simple map pins would really prevent me from having health issues in the future, as underwater exploration is stressfull mannn.

One of the more infuriating things for me is that my character can't go up to the surface for air briefly before going back down in places that should have that possibility. Like a lake or something like that. Understandably water-clogged underground tunnels shouldn't have this option, but if my character is suffocating why can't he just go up for a quick breath, still in the water mind you- and go back down?

I'm not sure how difficult this would be to implement, but it'd be cool if maybe some areas/locations would trigger the following text: "It looks like you can go up to the surface for a quick breath from here." In which case a character can roll his strength or perhaps a efuss swimming skill, (we do have that, right?) to spend a round coming to the surface for air. This gives enemies an attack of opportunity. Perhaps we could even implement that "flying" emote to mimic the character's swift swim to the surface for a tick.
