Wow.

I never realized how developed Old Port is.  The Golden Cup is a very nice tavern, and would be a great PC hub of activity.  

But you get no exploration XP for going there, and the cost there and back is prohibitive for all but the richest of PCs on some DM-supervised activities.  I'd suggest that both of these things are changed to encourage utilization of this way cool resource.

It's a shame that one of the most promising areas of the server isn't a practical place to visit or inhabit.  Yeah, I know I can try to change that IG if I want, but I just wanted to point out the potential of the area and hope that all the work that one or more DMs put into that area can be appreciated somehow in the future.

The fact that Old Port is periphiral is mostly intended at this point. The idea, I believe, is to have a developed and 'civilized' area in the background to subtly (or not so) influence the politics of the Ziggurat! If we wanted EFUA to be the City of Old Port we'd have made it so! At any rate, your appreaciation is nice. Mort developed it and gave it much of its current flavour.

Not even having seen Old Port, I second that motion. I also think the application restriction for characters from Old Port should be lifted.

Maybe I'm alone in my own little world here, but I'm finding that creating a fun and interesting concept for the Isle of Ymph is actually a difficult proposition. One would think that having unlimited possibilities for origin and backstory would open up more options, but it seems like the opposite is true. Ymph is too much of a blank slate.

Unless you were a Seeker, Sanctuary was a place where you wanted to be. By contrast, Ymph is a place you want to get away from. Old Port, at the very least, is a place to go.
