What does PW mean? I know it means persistent world. But what does that mean??

A gaming world that evolves and continually is upgraded so that playing one week will have a different experience than playing the next, I think.

Persistent is synonymous with lasting. It means that past events are reflected in the setting's future. Essentially it establishes an unscripted timeline for the server in addition to that of individual characters.

It means the world will go on even without your PC.
