Would it be possible, or desirable to have a script like the one that sends orcs and goblins and what not to assault the cities gates to fire in or around the Docks. It could be anything from trogs to pirates, but it's always a question of whether or not to go to those things as a Docksmen because you can't be sure someone isn't just going to smack you around once it's over.

The real problem is the area design I think. Even in the last DM invasion with demons there were some found hours later hidden away in some random alleys and stuff, there are many places the AI won't path properly, and most of NPCs in the docks would just get destroyed by anything stronger than a light breeze.

If you could happen though it might be cool. Some Troglodyte invasions, Kobold pirates, or even Coral Pirates might be good ideas.

I was thinking maybe it could start out on the reef?

Divine Intervention

Have them spawn on the beach and put two tough sons at the cliff top like the gate guard stygians.

Mort

High NPC number, pathfinding demanding areas (lots of tight crawlway, alleys... sandpath are thin), lots of placeable for good aesthetic.

All these factors make it so that setting up invasions there will be extremely laggy, choppy and not so cool without any DM to supervise it. (Even when a DM supervise, it oftens go haywire).
