Camping transitions is a BIG no no.

This.

As for the OP: the wilds are dangerous, and QAs are just special extension of it. If there's a dire bear in that cave after orcs 2, yes you have to remove it before resting.

You might as well be asking to remove spawns because they're in the way.

I've been playing spellcasters ever since i started EfU, and this was never an issue. Even coming back alone from Starwood has had me use invisibility potions, but that's why there are so many in the game. Even with the invisibility dispel traps around.

Gippy

Maybe there should only be resting in the city, and no resting in the wilds for city PCs except in the few designated camps... that would solve this debate nicely.

Yes, that can't be accesed before having to fight the assasin vines just outside the SQAs transition. Or the riser commander in the next room. Or the mist ogres. Or the flayers, or the cave bear...

...have you been reading the suggestion at all?

putrid_plum

They have and to be blunt, it seems it is NOT desirable at all by most here including the DM team.  Have you been reading what they wrote?

I have played EFU a LONG time and never ever had an issue with this.  Quests that are far away are made to be dangerous, it's what makes them more fun and NOT dull.

Yalta

I have never had a particular issue with getting back from distant locations when low on charges/spellslots, just dodging the NPC flora and fauna.

But.

I have experienced "surprise" PVP very close to a QA exits on a number of occasions (if memory serves +5 times). Much of it wasn't directly at the exit, but pretty near and the groups I have been in would certainly not had the time to rest with oil/blankets or get to camp before being surprise attacked.

Thomas and LPFF have alluded to transition camping being a no no. Certainly whacking people before they have fully loaded on a screen is, but after they have fully loaded i understood it was then pretty much fair game?

If things are as clear PVP wise as outlined then yes this suggestion is arguably uneeded.

However. If its a bit more grey, then having a rest area at the end of a few quests in the wilds, where these attacks take place would potentially balance up some of the PVP, adding to the fun all round.

Relinquish

I'm going to camp outside coral cove to gank people now.

I have, and I've been playing for long enough to know that your issues shouldn't matter for any group that did the mentioned quests or that they should have extra consumables from that completed quest, due to your wizard buffing them, that can now be used in such situations if they're even needed.

I've played countless front line fighters and never had a problem with ogres after Orcs 2, assassin vines after Trolls, or cave bears in other places. I'm sorry you can't spam them with magic or buff the fighters directly after exhausting yourself and I'm pretty sure if you just calm down and walk a small distance to the next campsite you'll see that it's not such a big deal.

Pretty much. Transition abuse is obviously wrong but there is no rule or guideline against fighting a group after they completed a quest. Give them time to load and some space that doesn't  above the loading process and there should be no issue at all!

Is anyone going to address the game design philosophy of "characters have nice things to use them, so they should be used up after a quest"? I don't have an issue with getting to a quest being dangerous, and the quest itself can be dangerous, but when the quest is over why make PCs have even more to prove? What is wrong with letting them briefly enjoy their accomplishment and not be in a constant battle of preservation?

How are you hurt, except by not being able to prey upon weakened heroes returning from a quest?

Pretty sure it's just what you said, Scotty.

It's important to remember we're playing a game, not a Life Simulator. Otherwise this isn't fun for anyone. The ultimate objective of any game IS TO WIN. What is left to us is what our conditions for "winning' are. Sometimes to win, we need to lose, but sometimes to Win we need to...win.
