I'm enjoying greatly this particular perk, (fire) because although mechanically is not as strong as air or earth, it gives the feeling that you are really setting things on fire.

One, though, when you can set things on fire, is usually a large mob at the distance unless you have comburst, other elements have ways of doing a weak but very usefull effect on emenies throuhg cantrips, fire doesn't.

This particulary bugs me because i play a PC that would ICly start a fire in the clothes of anyone who would annoy her enough, and has trobule controling her magic, so i'd like to spontaneously burn people to repersent this. However, to do this either i set everything that is in the area on fire (and do somehting about 14 damage plus whatever the extra damage, wich is not something minor, but rather significant and might actually subdue a low HP PC) Through burning hands, or comburst a single PC and risk doing serious damage. I'd love to just do a little harm, just to represent setting them on fire without actually being a major threat to them.

Thought if flare also caused the same effect as other fire spells with the elemental bond: fire, it could serve the purpose. I can always cast the regular flare and emote *your clothes are set on fire* but it isn't the same.

Also this would allow a fire focused mage to better represent him casting fire magic, rather than using acid splash or ray of frost, because flare sucks.
