History/Insight:

At it's birth, the Umbaktu was a congregation of wildmen that hailed from the humid, jungled south, near Chult. While adopting the common tongue from traders, and Chult's port cities, the Umbaktu focused on internal knowledge and lore.

The Umbaktu, from its rising, has always been extremely militarialistic, having two sects; the Chieftain's warparty, consisting of warriors, hunters, and stormbringers, and the Spiritual sect, consisting of witchdoctors, shamans, and spirit guides.

The Umbaktu gained reputation amongst other minor tribes of the south, as being worshippers of storms, and rain. It was not uncommon to witness a band of Umbaktu rallied to a shoreline, dancing for the rain to come, and assembled upon the highest elevations possible during storms. It is lore amongst tribesmen that the Umbaktu praise Talos, and aim to please the Stormlord to protect their villages, and their people.

Although being devout worshippers of Talos, they have a strong respect towards nature and all things natural. The spiritual sect of the Umbaktu often reads prayer to offer guidance of the dead to reach peace in the next life. The tribe's spiritual sect is also recognized as painting themselves not only in the tribe's blue and white warpaint, but in the blood of the dead.

The warparty, led by the warchieftain of the tribe, consists of the tribe's only most proven warrior. Until a tribesmen is proven, he remains a cub, helping the women of the tribe plant, and gather. Once a male reached full maturity, he may test himself, to battle a jungle cat, hand to hand. Be it his defeat, the spirit guides shall grant him passage. Be it his victory, so he shall become a hunter amongst the warparty.

The Umbaktu's Arrival to Ymph:

As only a minor tribe, the Umbaktu, compared to a well-armoured vessel of mercenaries and slavers is no match. Having reached its end in Chult and the south, they were raided and routed by slavers and hired mercenaries. Those whom survived were put on a grand vessel, to be sold to Thay, and Ymph. Those whom were not sold to Thay, and survived the long trek from Thay to Ymph, were surely frail and without their former strength - having lost nearly all they had.

Upon the sea, just off Ymph, a bolt of lightning, brought forth by a cleric of Talos, sunk the ship, and landed it's floating debris upon the shores of Ymph, bringing remnants of the Umbaktu with it.

Basically, if you are to play an Umbaktu, you play as a surviver of the ship wreck, meeting up IGly with the rest of the tribe.

Goals will be discussed IG. However, you can expect things from villages, to skirmishes, to bringing storms, and other chaotic, savage, tribal acts.

Yours truly,
Umbaktu Empire

The plots are starting to brew. It's a very fun concept.

Although, roleplaying as a savage can be challenging, it is a blast. :]

Nature characters Pwn :D they get camping trips :D come join in the fun with Umbaktu tribe or come and say a warm Kaxalay to any of us, as long as you arnt Devils from stone lair we wont mind :D

MexicanGunslinger

While playing a nature character is very hard and you do face many deaths and dangers - it is VERY rewarding. Especially if you are apart of this tribe. So come and join the fun! send any one of us a PM or drop by #Brotherhood and we will help you with a concept.

Ranek

Yes, it's a fun faction. Just a reminder, when you look at 'deity: Talos', it is NOT 'another cult faction'. The faction is not a bunch of Fanatic Talosians, and don't necessarily live by it's dogma, they simply have the culture of respect the Storm Lord, mostly out of fear, and are very related to rain, storm and stuff. Only Fanatics are the Shamans (Clerics), who actually are not leaders.

Ranek

Yet another reminder, it is not a 'hate civilization' faction, they tend to be very supersticious about cities and it's people, but the take on it can be individual. Some might be more aggressive towards them, others more friendly, but in general, they just tend not to trust city folks, and fear them, rather than want to destroy them.

Umbaktu Empire

Also, to add onto what Ranek has been saying, the tribe is very individualized, but what it boils down to it a "tribe average" made after council. Not so much a vote, but a group decision, where each suggestion, and each person's feeling is taken into account, then averaged together, to make a "tribe disposition" towards something.

And also, the tribe is not "kill all civilization", but it has the potential to become one. Basically, leaping into this concept gives you the chance to mold it, impact it, and in turn, impact the whole server. The faction is being molded currently, and now is the supreme time to get your word in, and sit yourself upon a throne of tribalism, fun, and other savage acts in the wilderness!

Not to mention, there has been alot of interaction with the other nature PCs, so if you've always been interested in playing a character of the wild, but did not want to join a DM faction, this is your chance.

Yours truly,
Umbaktu Empire

Elytherin Dragonius

here we are seen camping with a "Pot Head Devil" and the illustrious Teffec of the Tiger Tribe, one of the many "Star Tribes"

basically the entire culture is there to be moulded, we spent a long while working out the bare bones for the culture, the rest is being grown daily, Heck you even get to make up your own words for things, now thats gotta be cool huh? :D

it is Umbakha that you will say Kaxalay to many Umbaktu Tribals,

Vaulted Shadows

cool faction

I've only seen this faction from the outside looking in, but they are a very close knit fun group.

Plus best of all you'll have something to do other then stand outside kingsman all day with idle time :)

Decimate_The_Weak

This faction is booming. If you've been interested in roleplaying with both the Armada and colonists, and the Stargazer, and naturefolk, this is the concept to join.

Also, if you have an interest of south american natives, such as the Mayan, this concept could possibly be for you, too. Its great fun. Alot of roleplay, and alot of competition within the faction. Its very dangerous living out in the wild, but it is so rewarding. You'd be surprised who you get to roleplay with.

Ranek

Although right now the faction is not so 'booming' anymore, due to some members being playing other concepts, it has still some active members, and here is a reminder that more than a faction, this is a concept to start new characters. Their ways are not set on stone, and new concepts can even take more 'civilized ways' or go deeper into nature ways. The reminder is also that many Umbaktus are still lost around the island, so, anyone who wishes to join the concept with new characters are welcome. It's being a lot of fun, and we need people to come with interesting things such as "Witch Doctors", "Spirit Guides", you name it. Come and join us! UMBAH!
