Alternate version of The Longest Night

As the title suggest, an alternate means to acquire this quest would be nice. While it's understood that Paladins in the Pallid Mask wouldn't give out tasks to someone who is evil it's kind of silly for such a cool quest to be limited like that. (Especially since means of disrupting detection don't work on his scripts)

What I'd suggest is an alternate quest giver who, for his own reasonings, sends you to either disrupt the work a good party would do or steal an artifact he desires from within or whatever else.

Also give the npc Darnael (spelling) the wounded guy, a sword. Its silly to see him run arround crushing skeletons with his bare fists.

I could be wrong, but you could probably still add your evil friends to the quest using the quest tool, if you have a neutral/good person in your party who takes the quest! So in the meantime you could probably still do the quest.  An alternate version wouldn't really be needed as that would be more work than say... adding a line like the one below, allowing pfg to actually work. Since you know, it's probably just an oversight that pfg doesn't work on him in the first place.

if (GetHasSpell(oPC, SPELL_PROTECTION_FROM_GOOD)) return true; Just saying.

Figaro

Adding them with quest tool doesn't work. But, I would say a lot of quests are limited for a lot of reasons, we don't need to add someone so Stygians and Loyalists to the Duke can do Trogs or Snake quest, or so that Docksmen can do Orcs.

Edit: Well, Docksmen can do Orcs, but I think these limitations are fine.

I think it's fine. Danael's wounded and can't fight properly. Being unarmed, and therefore suffering AoOs and having crappy dmg represents this nicely IMO. He shouldn't be involved in major combat anyway if you're doing the quest right.

As for non-evil, there's good and bad points. The quest is IMO a rather under-played one, although the difficulty on it has been scaled down to still be a challenge, but not be the rather poor reward for a high risk it was. It is also two quests that are limited as the quest is a 2-parter, *and* it's full of necromantic drops on  account of the fact you're destroying Risers throughout, as well as information about the Nightrisers a Necromancer would love to get his hands on. However it doesn't make sense for Grimfael to give the quest to known evil PCs/Animators, as even with PFG up, most would need a disguise as well if he had ever encountered them before. Same goes for Pallid Mask NPCs in general who might know PCs on sight.

How about the following:
Quote"The Enemy of my Enemy.."
Questgiver: Thrask Morv or his assistant?
Quest range: 3-7
"My research indicates that a Nightriser Sub-warden (this is the Nightriser Barracks boss) is in posession of a Nightriser Command Token. Dedicated study of this Token may allow the Conclave to ultimately command the Nightrisers back to their original purpose as a Netherese defence. The Pallid Mask are due to attack the Nightriser positions in the temple district, and will thoughtlessly despoil any necromatic items they find. We need that Token, and would pay well to see it taken from under their noses. We have managed to temporarily control one of the Nightriser Portals and we can use it to get you into and out of the Barracks. Do you accept?"
This quest would have you enter a portal and come out within a copy of The Longest Night Part Two. This quest would have the loot reduced (As it wouldn't be a payoff for beating Part one, but a standalone quest) but it would allow Evil PCs to access the Nightriser barracks, which I think is an important part of the server with regards to researching the Risers IC.

Dr Dragon

Or you can just make the questgiver not be a paladin and just be Nuetral undead hunter who needs men!

Luke Danger

I like Egon's suggestion. Makes sense, belivable, and works. I support that.

Dr Dragon

How about the same thing as Egon's suggestion only a seperate entrance that goes to another Riser Courtyard.

I don't think evil PCs really need this sort of help
