Wilderness survival could apply to the animal skinning check.

Meldread

Animal skinning is 100% based off Wilderness survival, and the max EFUSS skill cap is 10.  Which means that skinning some animals is now impossible, and that you're going to fail like at least 25% of the time on island cats.

The DC on animal skinning needs to be adjusted.

Conan The Conqueror

Ah, so the switch was already made? I thought it was still based on Heal. Very well, I suppose I should alter my suggestion to be either A) Have skinning be comprised of Heal + Wilderness Survival or B) The DC's be lowered as Meldread suggests.

Blake the Boar

B.

Unless we want medics leaving their patients and joining the fur business in mass.

Well, I have 10 in wilderness survival.. And I still more often than not, get poor/average pelts.

It seems a little odd to me maxed skill points to be able to skin stuff, still mostly leads to pretty bad pelts. Skinning is still worth it, but not by much.

If its staying as it is, so be it. Just my opinion that it'd be good if you could raise your skinning chance higher.

Perhaps wildeness survival + leatherworking together? (there is a leatherworking Efuss skill, right?)

ScruffyMcSmirkalot

Just an addition: I'm not sure if Leatherworking encompasses the preparation of leather, known as "Tanning". Thus, I'm not sure if it would be appropriate for giving an additional bonus.

On that note... I'm afraid Snoteye left it a bit ambiguous, but... what is the current equation for skinning? is it simply a "Wilderness Survival" check? or are there other variables involved? Sometimes it feels like Barbarian or Ranger levels have an impact, but no one can be sure.

Dhund

If you are adjusting skinning, can gnomes be added to skinable monsters? >.>
<@Mort> Dhund is on the money, imo

ScruffyMcSmirkalot

Dhund: How about Hins? Or are you referring to 4E? ;)

Drakill Tannan

Gnomes are monsters if 4E?

Ranek

Yeah! And Tieflings are standard race... Sweet...
