I love the quest system EFU/EFU:A has always used. And if you REALLY want to go on a quest above your level by 1-2 levels, if you ask a DM nicely, they sometimes will let you into it (so long as it isn't obvious that you are just trying to leech xp). Although in my experience they tend to be a lot stricter about letting higher levels into lower level quests, which is extremely reasonable in my opinion.

Just use common sense and plan ahead, with a little creativity it doesn't really pose as much of an IC obstacle as some people may think!

And as far as 'leeching' is concerned, it doesn't concern only low lvl pcs... How'd you think mages lvl so fast? Fight meatshields, fight!

It's not leeching if your adding a considerable amount of damage to the group via buffs.

Let's take for example bulls strength, on a max roll per swing on a one handed weapon your adding 2-3 damage per hit, magic weapon thats another 1 per hit, flame weapon and so on and so forth, add any direct spell damage in there and you'll find your doing quite a bit of your parties damage.

What could possibly be considered leeching is unloading 5 magic missiles followed by a bunch of melf's acid arrows and fireballs then sitting at the back twiddling your thumbs, I suppose!

Yep i know. To make the analysis more complete for those who think mages are useless:

bulls average +2 damage/hit
magic weapon +1 damage/hit

on a 1d8 weapon with 4.5 damage average, buffs increase about 75% the
damages done during quests... Not even mentioning PfE, insulations, skins,  improved inv, etc.

But: most mages could as well cast buffs and wait outside QA, even in town. Most don't do the healing part in time, and even fewer dare to play offensive guys because they attract attention and deal ridiculous damages anyways.

That being said, i enjoy being a leech. More, i'm sure i'll find some to remind me that rp comes before stats.
