This is a group that IMO has never really kicked off as it should. I'm going to try to get it to the right track, since it might as well be a strong power in the ziggurat.

Started off as the Willam bell university and memorial library, after the A.R.T. joined with it the sydicate was made. I however see little activity in it, and looks like the "Yeah i'm part of the shrouded island something, but who cares" banner. Mostly because the lack of leadership, Auric Lanshee (Think that is Adrianas players) Doesn't seem to have enough time to run the faction properly so i'm lending a hand with Dram Nermoot.

Right now i'll try to create a mercenary division, in hopes of attracting characters of all classes. The invitation is open to all, and if somone could take a leader role that would be great, because i myself can't be arround that much time.

I'll chip in on this one, as I was running most of the University activity for quite a while on Ahmed. The Library room itself contains a really cool puzzle that previous scholar factions only seem to have scratched the surface of. There are quests with scripted lore checks and hidden information in that I used to run groups for with the sole intention of finding stuff out, even if that meant stuffing half the team with Identify-casting Wizards and smartass Bards :D. There are also clues and plot hooks for mysteries all over.

The key to making the faction active and interesting is to pick a couple of puzzles, bits of history, plot hooks etc and recruit anyone with an interest. Get a Dm letting you uncover more info, try experiments that aren't scripted, and push forward some stuff. The reason that the Bell University had a big file on the Order was that Sinister let me break into the place after it was abandoned. Make a big thing of the quest the library offers. Post bounties for recipe scrolls, old tomes that aren't in the collection etc.

Maybe players would take more interest in the Syndicate if the DM's would bother to take any interest in it. Quite honestly Pruedence Nykwiki is going to become my secondary PC simply because I've asked for DM help numerous times and every DM says the same thing, "I'll look into it" and nothing happens.
Something as small and crapy as a resting and spawn point (for a spell casting faction) makes players take their PC's elswhere to join other factions and mix their loyalties (or makes a PC become a secondary) and puts the Syndicate on the back-burner...

Good luck with your take-over guys.

The server has been slow for a week or so now, plus with the war just ending and various other events having taken place, many of the Syndicate have just been occupied for the moment.

As a memeber of this faction, I have gone on some very interesting events with this group.  It has great potential to become a major player if done right.

There are some things that need to be done that would help make this better.

1. open the resting cot up to memebers.
2. Perhaps lower the cost of some of those book.  (Haevn would love to read some of them.  But, 50 coin for a book is a little out of perspective for a memeber)
3. Organization, organization, organization.
4. Perhaps call a meeting of all members, lets see who is still around.

I have been considering a PC for this faction.  Doubtful I will have time to take any sort of lead on this, but if it is not going to be a dead faction, I have a warrior / bard concept I'd throw in on.  I'll keep an eye on this, or if anyone has ideas they want to hash out, PM me.

I'll sure apreciate it egon, plust i'll be asking your advise often, i've never assited leading a faction or organised anythin in NWN!

Also, i think DMs will take interest in the syndicate when players do somethign with it. DMs should support PC factions, but they should be ran by PCs.

Heya! Sorry if this isn't the right place for it, but I'm very interested in books and the Library, especially after discovering the puzzle door and lower chambers. I didn't mean to intrude on a faction's zone, but I'd be more than willing to help out if there's secrets and books to be uncovered. Knowledge should be available to all, not left to rot in dusty underground chambers.
