Locked Chests and Doors etc

I've noticed that 99% of the chests and doors in this game are locked with a "special lock" that is immune to lockpicking and the spell knock. I don't think i've found a single chest or door that can be unlocked ever, in quests or the city, ie faction areas. Literally every one that's locked so far i've seen requires a special key.


Makes rogues and lockspringers pretty useless. I suggest adding locked chests and doors to quests and making at least some of the "magic" doors and etc in the city unlockable.

99% of the locked doors have nothing behind them, so the DMs do not want them to be opened. It saves module space by not having to make an area for every door, and makes things look nice.

As for faction areas, you need a DM, but you can usually open these doors with your lockpicking skill as long as you've got  a DM handy.

There are lots of quests where you need a lockpicker to get the good stuff. Maybe not at the lower levels, but most of the tougher quests -really- benefit from a good lockpicker.

Many doors actually do open to cool secret things. Not every door that says it needs a key actually opens with a key. Some doors will open after you do something to them. Not every key is shaped like a key, either. Be creative.
