Item missing after server reset yesterday

I'm not sure if this is a bug report or a DM question but i'll go with bug report, feel free to move it.

Yesterday afternoon I found a rather nice helmet call the "Mask of Pitiless Flames" while on the marching dead quest.  The server was reset some time later and when I logged back in after the reset, it was no longer in my inventory.  The rest of the items I found during the quest were there.  Just no helmet.  Is this on purpose?  Was that mask not supposed to be kept?

I don't believe this is a bug. Read the item description next time you take the quest.

Not a bug, as the description should make clear.

The idea is that your lowbie PC can have fun roasting large masses of shambling zombies, not glut the market with burning-hands loot.

Gotcha, now I get it.  I figured the description was just saying that it had a limited number of charges and would "burn out".  No worries, it did strike me as kind of crazy powerful to have permanently.
