No More Tells

I haven't read the other posts here, outside of the OP.  I scanned a few, each was against, and I'd imagine most others were as well.  Here are a few reasons I think this would be a bad idea.

1.  The removal of tells will simply increase the OOC chatter via the talk channel.  I use tells a lot, in many of the same way Jasede does, and most others I have played with seem to do so as well.  I love to chat OOC in tells, even if it is to say "Hey what's up", to answering questions, to "OMG! LOL!  Did you see that?" - it strengthens the community, I believe.  Plus, it lets people see I'm not a OOC prick, even if I happen to be playing a character that -is- a prick. ;)

2.  Whenever I meet someone who is new to the server, I always strike up an OOC conversation.  There is a lot they need to know, OOC wise, and often have questions.  This ranges from sending in apps to DM's, to what is acceptable PvP, to well - anything, really.  With the changes to the grouping system, I'd wager I'm also going to be a doing lots of OOC explaining via tells with that as well.

3.  IRC still exists.  If people want to chat OOCly enough, they will simply play NWN in windowed mode (as I do), and talk in PM's on IRC (as I sometimes do).

Anyone who plays with me knows that I send far too many tells to anyone and everyone. If they were disabled this would be crippling.

If only for the reason that tells can be a valuable RP tool at certain points (eg., doing something that only one particular character can notice, or detailed inquiries about what a character looks like or something like that and is not covered in the desc), this system should not be removed.

Ok, so we all seem to agree that despite some abuse by *cough* certain players, tells are necessary especially without having party chat any more.
