<.< I had nothing else to do, so I went ahead and worked through all the deities that broke the one step rule for our benefit.

This is what it says in the cleric class description regarding alignment:
Like the gods they serve, clerics can be of a variety of alignments. Because people more readily worship good deities than neutral or evil deities, good clerics are more numerous than evil ones. Clerics also tend toward law instead of chaos, since lawful religions tend to be more structured and better able to recruit and train clerics.
Typically, a cleric is the same alignment as his deity, though some clerics are “one step” away from their respective deities.
In the rules say the cleric must be of an alignment associated with their god.
So basically, they must be of the alignment listed in each of the "cleric alignments" sections for each deity?

What is this one step rule?

The one step rule is that when making a cleric your alignment must be within "one step" of your deity's alignment.  For example a god that is True Neutral would normally allow NG, LN, CN, TN, and NE alignments in its clerics.  While a Lawful Evil god would only allow NE, LE, and LN clerics.

But as Thomas pointed out, this is not always the case.
