Animate dead and Wizards

I guess I should start off with a few stats:

A Cleric will receive Animate Dead at level 5
A Wizard Palemaster will receive it at level 7
A Pure wizard will receive it at level 9
A pure Sorceror or Bardic Palemaster will recieve it at level 10

Now: This, essentially makes non-cleric necromancers near-impossible on EfU:A, as even Level 7 is rather hard to obtain.

My recommendation is simple: Give all wizards it as a 3rd circle spell, and sorcerers it as a 4th...

And here's the part that will make me -way- less popular-
Remove it from the clerics default spell list.

They can get it as a 4th level spell through the Evil, Chaos, Drow, Undeath, Trickery or Hatrid domains. This would place wizards, again, as the worlds Necromancers.

As it should be.

I know this will likely get shot down, but It would give Necromancers that umph of playabilty and stop so many wanna-be necromancer clerics.

I was just curious as to why you think that Wizards make more fitting necromancers than clerics. The power of giving life, whether it be in the normal sense or the dark supernatural has long been tied to the gods (the evil deities in the case of necromancy)

I feel that clerics are much more attuned to matters of life and death than wizards. Wizards on the other hand deal more in the raw arcane and elemental energies of the world, as sorcerors do as well to a lesser extent.

I agree that it's tough to get a wizard up to that level, but I think it's more of an accomplishment at the point. I'd almost recommend an alteration of the dead that are animated rather then adjusting the level range of the spell.

Pale Master is there to take away some of an Arcanist's power, and give them more powerful Necromantic skills. To really shine in the ability to create flesh-munching husks of life, you really need the Divine's power over life that Arcanists just don't have.

Saying that Wizards are meant to be the better Necromancers is silly, because they're not. It's why they recieve it at 9 while Clerics do at 5. Also, any Pale Master gets an Animate Dead casting at 2, so any Pale Master can effectively Animate Dead at 5, if they go for 3 Arcane levels and then Pale Master, giving them the same Animation skills as a Cleric.

I'll just march in and crush this suggestion.

Removing a spell from a list, or adding a new one, is impossible without changing both the server and playerside overrides.

 This suggestion is impossible, mechanically. As the DMs have stated over and over they will not implement a change that means -everyone- needs it to be on fair footing.


On that note -

There is plenty of animate dead loot on the server. Necromancers really don't have a problem animating, really. If you're really that dedicated, the DM's will probably help you out, too.  If there is a will, there is a way.
