Quote from: ExileStrife;128063Spell-slots are often put on daggers and clubs and other weapons BECAUSE it looks so silly when those high-society mages choose to carry them around all the time. We love trade-offs, and function over fashion is often one of them. You don't get to have your cake and eat it too. :)

I find an IC reminder of the exact mechanics of the reason behind it to be slightly detrimental to immersion, personally. "I wield these daggers because, well, if I put them away, I lose spell slots that I got from resting with them in my hands." Yeah...

All of DnD is silly. Don't look into it too hard.

Luke Danger

Hey, if it looks dumb, but works, fine by me.

Though I haven't played a wiz . . .at all, really.

It's all fantasy, but not all of it stabs you in the face screaming LOOK, MECHANICS! Carrying daggers around in your hands all the time for spell slots is not nearly in the same league as playing an orc or something else "silly."

Professor Death

I'll accept this and Exile's reasoning about the daggers to a point (no pun intended).  but seriously, if one thinks about those items being made by mages for mages, no one in their right mind would really do that.  So, the easy fix is to give them a description that calls attention to the lunacy of their use, akin to that old duergar robe that disappeared when you used its power.

I am outraged about daggers man. This is some serious bullshit.

AfroMullet

Then you must take it to the max.

Certainly, they have multiple ready... but I have yet to see a dual scalpel wielding surgeon. You kinda need your other hand to well.. hold stuff.

Not that this would stop me from using two however...  >.>
