Cause and Effect is something that occurs regularly in the universe. Things happen for various reasons and along the way that effects causes effects causes effects and so forth.

The beauty of a world like EFU is that C&E is not only a large part of plots, but also of many interactions. Things happen IC. Then there's moves, counter moves, until a plot grows into awesome.

Sometimes those moves speed up depending on PC actions. Sometimes those moves slow things down. Its why some plots come to head swiftly and why those slowly take time to bubble.

Also however, C&E can apply negatively to PCs.

While it is often important you act ICly in your actions C&E is something that can lead you to trouble. Example of that is quite simply: when numerous PCs and even NPCs tell you to stop something. If you don't stop, that cause has more effects.

Again. It iss important that you always play your PCs correctly. If you have low wisdom its more understandable to keep trying to hurl yourself at something.

I witnessed an event last night that brought this into question and I thought it'd just be best to share this with the server. PC action can cause effects. Often times good, sometimes bad for your character and other PCs.

Sometimes C&E leads to great awesome (like certain characters being perceived as Heroes and that sort of thing). Other times the C&E of Roleplay can be seen as the equivalent of stepping on a lightning trap. One PC does something, and unfortunately it has a backlash for many involved.

Simply because you don't like how those effects turn out does not mean you are playing your character poorly it does not mean we don't like your PC and it definitely does not mean we are "Out to get you".

There has been a lot of back room chatter and salty words about an event that came about through IC means, Rp'd means, and ended poorly for a few characters. Know that every single action going on in EFU has an equal and opposite reaction. They may not all be as public and prevalent, but things always move forward.

That's alot of our job as DMs. Keeping the world seeming real, active, and fun. Cause leads to Effect. Over and over. Even away from the PC eyes, NPC actions have NPC effects.

No one was keeping you there to fight. No one made you continue to fight while PC and NPC alike tried to stop it. If you acted ICly like your character would have, kudos, but IC actions have IC consequence.

Sometimes you step and fight the monster and become a hero.

Sometimes you step up and your face gets ripped off.
