We were to the BIG main hall, where there is the legions of spawns, and it took us a while to realize, each time we fell back or something of the same, we triggered the spawns again.. We spent a solid hour in that place, and probably well over a fair share of consumables (100+uses of Cure serious wounds) and died a bit.. but that's not the point. We took the left passage, not the right.. so there may be a faulty trigger there.

There isn't, Some quest do reset some functions within them after a time (That time is usually fairly long!). You were possibly a victim of this reset-- I can't explain how it works here but It is fair game that should you retreat back and forth, more monsters will show.

I'd like to point out that the times weren't long.  We'd kill them quick and they'd immediately reappear.

We didn't start going 'back and forth' over some amorphous hallway trigger for the first half of it, we only pulled back after we realized the first time that there seemed to be an overly large amount of spawns.

Odd thing is that the last time I had done the quest we got through the room and were fighting the last big spider.  It seemed that there were an overly large amount of the little spiders.

I saw why when we killed the last big one.  He immediately respawned at the place where he spawns at, and in the fight, running around I realized that all of the little spiders were also immediately respawning after being killed.

This is something I've seen in Vradz and Orcs 2 with single respawning troopers or orcs.  The whol area would be clear and thenone guy would appear and come after your party.  You could eventually track the spawn down and see him just reappear as you killed the last one.

We ultimately just skipped past the room and let the spawns have it.

But hey!  For some people, this could be a feature.  ymmv
