Bad Horse

Greetings

I’ve noticed something unusual in the combat logs when my Elvin Rogue is using a standard longbow (purchased during character creation). His Attack bonus is +6, but he only gets this for the first attack made against a character. Otherwise it drops down to +4.

I’ve had my Character Menu open during combat and the +6 figure doesn’t change even though the actual figure used in combat goes down to +4. He doesn’t have any weapon or ranged feats so I’m not sure why it would drop.

I’ve also noticed that if there are more than one enemy (and no pause between attacking) that the bonus remains +4 for the second creature, then changes to +6 for the first attack on the third creature.

Is this a bug or a design feature that I’m unaware of?

What level are you and what's your dexterity bonus?

Using a ranged weapon against a moving/running target adds a -2 penalty to your AB.

Bad Horse

My character is a level 4 Rogue with 17 dexterity. I read thru the combat section of NWN but I couldn't find mention of why there would be a -2 penalty. The -2 to hit a running character seems to fit with what is happening. I've never heard of that before.

Thanks for your responses.

Unfortunatly NWN can be very wonky with how it calculates ranged AB. Make sure you get point blank shot, it helps!

The moving target AB penalty is definitely one of the more obscure things. It's not entirely undocumented however.
