Outdoor Benches

Simple suggestion, and it's been talked about before. Didn't see a thread about it though, so i'm making one now. Please don't think this is stupid.

I am disturbed by the apparent lack of benches in our community. Especially the square. I actually think benches would be a great idea. I understand if the DM's don't want too many people congregating in the square at one time, but let's be honest. It is the natural gathering place, and benches can be nice for players to sit down on once in awhile. They're a great, and simple plot item that can used during roleplay. Maybe a detective is sitting there, reading the news, while secretly doing some surveillance work. Perhaps it's two young lovers taking in the view of the city from their perch.

Benches would even be an interesting feature in Lower. It shows that people once lived there. My point is that we need places to sit down outside. It looks a bit odd having everyone stand all the time, or sitting on the ground.

I agree, I think we need some benches placed in common public places. Lower feels a bit odd since there are dead chosen, fires raging out of control and a general wasteland down there, but the Square might not be a bad idea.

One of my favorite moments of Mistlocke was when Slackjaw Mac had his chair in the square bust because he was too fat for it to support his weight.

But otherwise, this is a goal that could be pursued ingame through politics.

Please do not waste anyone's time by trying to "earn" benches IG via politics.  If a DM wants to take the time to set it up so it looks decent, then it'll happen.  Otherwise it won't. :p

Use your time being awesome instead.  Fighting for benches to be added so you can sit your ass down isn't awesome.  

If you want to sit down, go to the House of Heroes.  If everyone decides to hang out there, then the suggestion here becomes moot.  All it takes is people who are having a conversation to say, "Hey, let's go talk about this in the House of Heroes.  I'm tired of standing around."  The more that happens, the more people will just start chilling out in the House of Heroes instead.

I'd love if this happened more often IG- and I also wish more sendings would plan to meet in the house of heros. Make the inn a more traditional gathering place. I think I'll incorporate that into my character from now on.

Back in the day..there was a tavern, in upper, where everyone gathered. Never been one like it since..not sure why, seems folks just like standing outside more then sitting inside.  Same thing happened efuA , EfuM..folks just quit using the Inns after Efu ..there was even a lengthy thread debating and discussing the merits of that original Inn and all others..

A) Controlling this kind of behavior stirs in me memories of my childhood in a socialist paradise. No to loitering laws!
B) The tileset is cold. If I wanted to be cold I can do it in the square just as well. Taverns should be warm. I always liked being in the Pissing Crone, Hanged Goblin or Rock Bottom Inn - might be the tileset?
C) The place is too big and there's too much inside it. A simple, square/rectangular basic layout might work better.

Our failure to get players want to hang out in Taverns does make me sad.

- some benches added (we'll see if they end up annoying me though, I suspect they will when I zoom in to the square and see a bunch of semi-AFK PCs sitting silently on the bench ignoring each other)

It seems to me the obvious solution is to have an outdoor beer garden or food vendor that PC's can sit around in the square outside the House of Heroes
