In-Inventory Wererat Skin after Drinking the Elixir of Silverdust

My PC, Kepli Underbough, contacted lycanthropy through a PC wererat. After a long chain of incidents, my PC managed to get hold of a bottle of the Elixir of Silverdust, and did drink it. However, before I logged out, I discovered an item in his inventory called the "Wererat Skin". I contacted DM Caster afterwards, and the response is that the item should not have been there.

The question is thus, should I try to drop the item? And if it disappears after my login next time, or be undroppable, what should I do? Does it have anything to do with lycanthropy at all? And should the item be visible to the player in the first place?

Please avoid naming lycanthrope PCs.

Also, as I said when you asked, just ignore the item and try to trash/destroy it if it lets you drop it into a bottomless trash can.

If it persists through a reset, ask a DM to destroy it if you cannot do it yourself.
