Roleplay Experience until 6th level

I've been told the reason you only get experience tics until 4th level is because the original intent was to bring the average level down a bit. And while I have no data to really support this, I'm not seeing any fewer 7th-8th level PCs than in EFU:M. Instead I'm noticing its just people who quietly grind quests from upper BEFORE pushing any kind of agenda or conflict. Those who try to push an agenda from the get-go, on the other hand, get stomped on unless they happen to receive DM support which you can't ever rely on for a concept.

If experience tics continued until 6th level newer characters would be able to spend more time roleplaying, attending player-organized events, and creating events of their own and wouldn't feel so obligated to jump on every train for mudmen-cook-kobolds. In another thread someone said these quests are dull. They're certainly not. They have lots of secrets, fun mechanics, and are laid out nicely. But I believe the current dynamic has turned them into a CHORE for anyone trying to get a new PC off the ground.

I disagree with any sort of XP advancement at all.

It allows Idler's to get a reward without earning it which diminishes Role play.

The system was implemented with great hope that what you are saying (role play, attend public events, etc) would happen, but sadly, all I see are new PC's sprinting from one place to another and idling in the Square instead.

I say abolish the Auto-XP system altogether.

However, if there was a way to grant exp based on the number of words your character emoted or spoke, I think that would be a better way to reward role-play with XP, especially for active characters at levels 8+ which likely are very prominent or cannot quest as much due to plot involvement. However, I don't know if that's possible.

^That's usually the best way to do it.

With automatic experience up to 6, I imagine we would see more players on the server at all time. I mean, people sometimes do not log in because the server has been up for two days and they can't gain experience because they've done all the quests.

Also, there's absolutely nothing wrong with rewarding players who log in and roleplay properly.

Quantity does not equal quality.

Also, the 'tics' are so insignificant, that they are basically a perk for non-combat PC's.

What's the point of idling in the square for 5 hours to get 500 xp or so?
